The Per Diem Clinical Nurse in the Medical Cardiology unit is responsible for assessing, coordinating, and managing the needs of assigned patients throughout their care. This includes coordination of patient care provided by the caregiving team and ensuring competent, compassionate care is delivered uniformly. A $43.50 per diem rate is offered.

Essential Duties & Responsibilities include but not limited to:

  • Implementing physician orders, administering medications, starting IVs, performing treatments, and documenting treatment as required
  • Ordering, interpreting, and evaluating diagnostic tests
  • Assessing and evaluating patient needs and responses to care
  • Applying sound nursing judgment in patient care management decisions
  • Providing primary and emergency care for occupational and non-occupational injuries and illnesses

Minimum Qualifications:

  • Graduate of a professional academic nursing program
  • Current NYS Registered Nurse license
  • Obtains and maintains certification in Basic Life Support (BLS) and Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS)
  • Previous experience as a PCA or other nursing assistance preferred
  • Possesses knowledge of quality concepts, principles, and problem-solving tools and techniques
