The Supplier Quality Engineer (SQE) is responsible for ensuring suppliers meet quality standards and requirements by working with cross-functional teams in the assessment and development of a global supply chain. The SQE evaluates, monitors, and improves supplier performance through audits, inspections, and collaborative efforts. This role involves leading supplier-related issue resolution and driving continual improvements in global supplier performance.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Collaboration: Work closely with engineering, procurement, and manufacturing teams to align on quality expectations and standards. Serve as a liaison between product engineers, manufacturing teams, and suppliers.
  • Supplier Evaluation: Lead or participate in cross-functional supplier validation audits, quality assessments, and capability studies. Review supplier processes, adherence to standards, and implement process improvements.
  • Quality Assurance: Develop and implement quality control processes for incoming materials, components, and assemblies to meet quality standards.
  • Problem Solving: Conduct onsite visits to suppliers for root cause analysis and verification of corrective actions.
  • Performance Monitoring: Track and report on supplier performance metrics, including defect rates, delivery timelines, and compliance with required certifications.
  • Documentation: Maintain comprehensive records of supplier quality assessments, audits, and performance reviews.
  • Continuous Improvement: Lead initiatives to improve supplier quality, reduce defects, and enhance overall supplier performance. Utilize quality tools and methodologies (e.g., DOE, RCCA, 8D, MSA, FAI, SPC) to resolve issues effectively.
Required Qualifications

Education:
  • Bachelor's Degree in Science, Technology, Engineering, Mathematics (STEM), or related discipline from an accredited institution.
Experience:
  • Minimum 5+ years in Quality Engineering, Supplier Quality Engineering, or Supplier Quality Management in an industrial manufacturing environment (e.g., automotive, heavy equipment, or custom-made products).
  • Strong knowledge of quality management systems (e.g., ISO 9001).
  • Experience with supplier audits and assessments.
Other Requirements:
  • Ability to travel domestically and internationally as needed.
Interpersonal Skills:
  • Strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and collaboratively within a cross-functional global team.
  • Excellent organizational skills and ability to plan and prioritize tasks effectively.
  • Strong judgment skills and decision-making ability with minimal supervision.
Technical Skills:
  • Proficient in MS Office, ERP systems, and data analytics.
  • Expertise with quality tools and methodologies (e.g., A3, 8D, Six Sigma).
  • Ability to interpret technical data, drawings, and specifications.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Certifications:
  • ASQ CQE certification.
  • Six Sigma Green Belt or higher.
