Job Description

As the Staff Software Engineer II within the Cardinal Engineering team, your role encompasses designing, developing, and refining the Payments and Risk platforms within an agile development framework. Your responsibilities include contributing to a team engaged in diverse projects, spanning from crafting full-stack, real-time container-based transactional microservices to establishing robust, secure, scalable, and resilient API gateway and IAM systems. We seek a proactive individual with a strong background in software engineering and proficiency in real time systems and technologies. The successful candidate will be deeply immersed in hands-on tasks, including proof-of-concepts, design, development, testing, and documentation.

Essential Functions: 

  • You’ll use technologies that include Java, REST, NoSQL, Docker and more.

  • You’ll use technologies like JavaScript and other front-end technologies/frameworks like ReactJS and Angular

  • You will analyze business requirements and architect a solution that is robust and scalable along with providing technical documentation of solution.

  • You’ll leverage on new technologies to build the next generation of Transactional & Security systems.

  • You’ll develop and deliver new features every few days and be responsible for them front-end

  • You have the work and academic experience that will demonstrate proficiency and ease with programming languages, code quality initiatives, scripting languages and operating systems

  • Your DNA includes a passion for ingenuity, engineering excellence, and following/creating software best practices and processes.

  • You have excellent communication and interpersonal skills and above all, you are a team player


This is a hybrid position. Hybrid employees can alternate time between both remote and office. Employees in hybrid roles are expected to work from the office 2-3 set days a week (determined by leadership/site), with a general guidepost of being in the office 50% or more of the time based on business needs.

Qualifications

Basic Qualifications

  • 8+ years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor’s Degree or at least 5 years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 2 years of work experience with a PhD, OR 11+ years of relevant work experience.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 9 or more years of relevant work experience with a Bachelor Degree or 7 or more relevant years of experience with an Advanced Degree (e.g. Masters, MBA, JD, MD) or 3 or more years of experience with a PhD
  • You are a Java, Java EE expert with relevant experience designing and building large scale enterprise Java applications.
  • You have experience with REST APIs, JSON and exposure to container-based technologies.
  • You have experience in application development frameworks like Vert.x, Spring etc. and have knowledge of Asynchronous programming.
  • You have experience in Kubernetes, Docker Swarm and container technologies.
  • Understand the Security requirements and standards, and contemporary trends in Security risks as well as technologies.
  • Experience in security domain with authentication, authorization and building secure gateway.
  • You have strong experience with Agile development incorporating Continuous Integration and Continuous Delivery, utilizing technologies such as GIT, Maven, Jenkins, Chef, Crucible, Sonar, Junit.

Additional Information

Work Hours: Varies upon the needs of the department.

Travel Requirements: This position requires travel 5-10% of the time.

U.S. APPLICANTS ONLY: The estimated salary range for a new hire into this position is 125,500.00 to 163,200.00 USD, which may include potential sales incentive payments (if applicable). Salary may vary depending on job-related factors which may include knowledge, skills, experience, and location. In addition, this position may be eligible for bonus and equity. Visa has a comprehensive benefits package for which this position may be eligible that includes Medical, Dental, Vision, 401 (k), FSA/HSA, Life Insurance, Paid Time Off, and Wellness Program.
