What We're Looking For HNTB is expanding its bridge practice in Austin. We have an immediate opening for a Project Engineer seeking challenging bridge design projects here in Austin, statewide and throughout the country. Our office has an extensive history delivering exciting and complex transportation projects for area clients like TxDOT, CapMetro and City of Austin. Our team of bridge design professionals located in Austin, Dallas, and Houston are creating an interconnected work environment dedicated to sharing their broad depth of experience to mentor young engineers and deliver innovative and complex bridge design projects for our clients (TxDOT, DART, CapMetro, NTTA, TTA, VIA, etc.) with a focus on technical excellence and quality. What You'll Do: Responsible for the planning and distribution of discipline-specific work, and adherence to the schedule and budget on projects. Assists in marketing responsibilities, including proposal generation. Assists with the development of scope of work and level of effort for projects and/or assignments within discipline. Oversees completeness and accuracy of project team’s work within the technical discipline. Guides and mentors team to overall project objectives. Coordinates technical aspects of project with client counterpart and teaming partners at staff level for work within the discipline. Works closely with other disciplines on multi-discipline projects. Performs other duties as assigned. What You'll Need: Bachelor’s degree in Engineering and 6 years of relevant experience, or Master’s degree in Engineering and 5 years of relevant experience, or PhD in Engineering and 4 years of relevant experience WHAT YOU’LL BRING An effective problem solver with a focus on fundamental engineering principles, technical excellence, quality, and continuous improvement A thorough understanding of AASHTO design specifications and guidelines An understanding of TxDOT bridge design practices and preferences at the division and district level Experience with Microstation ORD/OBM and structural design software and design tools such as PG Super, RC Pier, LPile, STAAD, etc… Effective and proactive time management practices with the ability to forecast and communicate project needs Understands the impacts of decisions on technical design and work planning Coordinates work planning and design effectively across multiple technical disciplines Prepares high quality deliverables that are on time, and within budget and scope WHAT WE PREFER: Minimum 5 years relevant TxDOT experience Professional Engineer (PE) certification in Texas RR and/or Light Rail Bridge design experience Experience with TxDOT proprietary software (BGS, CAP18, BmCOL51, etc…) Additional Information Click here for benefits information: HNTB Total Rewards Click here to learn more about EOE including disability and vet #AL .
