Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner

Job Description:
Johns Hopkins Hospital is seeking an experienced and compassionate Trauma Acute Care Nurse Practitioner to join our dynamic trauma team. The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide high-quality, patient-centered care in a fast-paced and challenging environment, working collaboratively with a multidisciplinary team to manage critically injured patients.
Responsibilities:
- Perform comprehensive assessments of trauma patients, including history taking, physical examinations, and ordering/interpretation of diagnostic tests.
- Develop and implement individualized care plans in collaboration with trauma surgeons, intensivists, and other healthcare professionals.
- Provide advanced clinical care, including wound management, suturing, and other procedures as necessary.
- Monitor patient progress, adjusting treatment plans based on clinical findings and patient response.
- Participate in trauma resuscitation and provide support in emergency situations.
- Educate patients and their families on injury prevention, treatment options, and post-discharge care.
- Collaborate with the trauma team to ensure continuity of care from admission through discharge and follow-up.
- Participate in quality improvement initiatives and trauma research projects.
- Maintain accurate and detailed patient records in accordance with hospital policies and regulatory requirements.
- Master's or Doctoral degree in Nursing from an accredited program.
- Current licensure as a Nurse Practitioner in the state of Maryland.
- National certification as an Acute Care Nurse Practitioner (ACNP).
- Minimum of 3 years of experience in trauma or critical care.
- Advanced clinical skills in trauma care, including procedural skills and emergency management.
- Strong communication, interpersonal, and organizational skills.
- Ability to work effectively in a high-stress, fast-paced environment.
- Commitment to providing compassionate and patient-centered care.
- Certification in Trauma Nursing (TNCC) or Advanced Trauma Life Support (ATLS).
- Experience with electronic health records (EHR) systems.
- Bilingual proficiency.
- Full-time position with rotating shifts, including nights, weekends, and holidays.
- Exposure to infectious diseases, hazardous materials, and high-stress situations.
