Purpose

As part of the UT Admissions Communications team, the social media coordinator creates content that advances the digital footprint of UT Admissions through social media. Manages the day-to-day use of social media, including of interactive and digital best practices, to engage prospective students and families in an effort to drive conversions, applications and enrollment of future students.

Responsibilities
  • Coordinate content for the highly visible, student-facing Admissions social media channels. Write, edit, produce, and curate written and visual content, including photos and videos, for all Admissions social channels. Create and manage an editorial calendar. Moderate comments submitted on social media channels and engage directly with audience members interacting with these channels. Verify all material for accuracy and appropriateness of presentation.
  • Oversee the day-to-day activities on social media platforms, including Facebook, Twitter, Instagram, YouTube and others.
  • Manage the Admissions social media ambassadors team.
  • Promote user engagement by attending on-campus events designed to recruit and yield freshman and transfer students. Attend events to provide social media and communications support as needed. Collaborate on the production of content during live events.
  • Create campaigns and posts and measure for success. Work with UMAC creative and project management teams to produce social content and copy that is channel appropriate and aligns with the UT Austin community student-focused areas around creative execution of brand concepts and plans.
  • Monitor social media for breaking student news, and university retweet opportunities. Measure the health of all social media accounts and provide reports and updates to improve the performance of all channels.
  • Stay informed of social media marketing trends and social channel capabilities as they rapidly evolve. Be proactive in informing the team of social media trends and opportunities that directly support UT Austin and Admission's social media strategy.
Required Qualifications

Bachelor's degree. At least three years of experience coordinating communications related projects or comparable experience. Ability to understand client goals and reflect them in digital and print communication projects. Strong written communication skills. Strong organizational skills. Must be comfortable collaborating in a team environment, but can also work independently to meet deadlines.

Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.

Preferred Qualifications

More than three years of experience coordinating communications related projects. Demonstrated ability to multitask and handle concurrent projects with accuracy. Ability to problem solve and execute a plan of action. Experience working in a university environment and assisting individuals from diverse cultures. Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines.

Salary Range

$56,000 + depending on qualifications

Working Conditions

  • Some nights and weekends required during peak periods.
