Nurse Practitioner

The Nurse Practitioner (NP) will provide medical evaluation and medication management services at Arista Recovery. The NP will work in coordination with the clinical team to provide medical services to adult clients with substance abuse and behavioral health issues. This position will involve working in collaboration and reporting to the medical director.
Duties and Responsibilities:
- Experience in delivering high-quality, client-centered care
- Able to document and navigate EHR independently
- Ability to maintain strict client confidentiality
- Ability to effectively communicate and interact with individuals involved in all aspects of programming
- Serves as a representative of Arista Recovery, displaying courtesy, tact, consideration and discretion in all interactions with Arista Recovery team members, clients, regulators and members of the public
- Ability to work effectively on multidisciplinary team
- Ability to read, analyze and interpret general and professional documents. Ability to write routine reports and correspondence. Ability to effectively present information in one on one and small group situations
- Must possess the ability to make independent decisions when circumstances warrant such action
- Ability to foster teamwork; train and direct the work of team members and colleagues
- Excellent organizational skills, including the ability to work productively and make independent decisions.
- Responsible for providing medical services to clients in a variety of clinical settings during scheduled hours. The scope of services includes medical evaluations and medication management services.
- Assess, diagnose, and treat adults experiencing symptoms of a substance abuse disorder.
- Prescribe, recommend, or discontinue drugs and treatments to treat mental, emotional, or behavioral disorders in accordance with the Collaborative Practice Agreement and the state's Nurse Practice Act.
- Collaborate with therapist, social workers, or other treatment team members to coordinate client care.
- Responsible for timely and accurate completion of medical records, including assessment, treatment plan, progress notes, outcome measures, and billing entries.
- Design/participate in the development of individualized treatment plans, incorporating best and leading practices into treatment interventions.
- Examine or order laboratory or diagnostic tests for clients to provide best practice
- Collaborate with family on client's conditions and treatment when clinically appropriate.
- Prepare and submit assessments, progress notes, reports, and summaries to entities/agencies (funders, insurance companies, etc.) as required.
- Return calls and emails promptly (within 24 hours of receipt or sooner if clinically necessary)
- Respond to client emergencies
- Responsible for making independent decisions based on protocols developed utilizing national guidelines for treatment interventions.
- Responsible for maintaining customer relations with all agency staff and clients.
- Maintain medical accurate and thorough records
- Looks for ways to improve and promote quality. Provides teaching and education to clinical staff, if requested.
- Follow all procedures and protocols as per Arista Recovery policy, federal and state regulations, and standard practice.
- Actively participate in all agency and department education, training, and in-services to confirm understanding of new information or changes to established clinical policies and procedures.
- An unrestricted license to practice as an advanced practice registered nurse (APRN) in the state of Kansas.
- Board Certified Nurse Practitioner required.
- Must have a valid DEA number and unrestricted DEA license in Kansas.
- BLS Provider obtained within 1 month (30 days) of hire date
- Master's or Doctorate Degree in Nursing
- Graduation from an advanced practice Master of Science in nursing program or completion of a formal Advanced Practice education program
- Proficient computer skills, including working knowledge of Microsoft Office Suite
- 1-2 years of providing direct client care
- Ability to work with adult populations.
- No suspension/exclusion/debarment from participation in federal health care programs (e.g. Medicare, Medicaid, SCHIP)
- Maintain credentials and licensure with all major insurance companies and licensing boards with the assistance of Provident credentialing staff.
