Department:Medical RecordsOverall Purpose of the Position:
The Medical Records Clerk uses our electronic medical records (EMR) to record and send patient information. Retrieves paper charts from storage and returns the charts when done. Responds to request for copies of patient medical records.

Major Job Responsibilities:Percentage:1. Scans into our EMR system information\documentations related to outside patient records (laboratory reports, radiology reports, medication refills, miscellaneous medical and legal documents, etc.).30%2. Completes requests for records for other facilities, physicians, attorneys and insurance companies. Where necessary, prepare billing invoices for information requests. Understands the rules on the release of patient information and medical records.30%3. Mailroom duties include the sorting and processing incoming\outgoing mail and distribution of mail to MMG mailboxes.15%4. Transports paper charts from offices and offsite storage as needed.15%5. Maintains confidentiality in accordance with MMG and HIPAA guidelines. Able to communicate with all levels of staff in a positive manner by telephone and email methods.2.5%6. All other miscellaneous responsibilities and duties as assigned.2.5%7. Demonstrates quality work, completes assignments on a timely basis, and makes decisions within limits of authority. Takes initiative in problem solving, maintains confidentiality of patient and company.2.5%8. Maintains attendance standards consistent with company policy.2.5%

Minimum Qualifications:Education/Experience:
High school diploma or equivalent.
Skills/Knowledge:
Must be able to manage multiple tasks at the same time; possess organizing skills and be able to work overtime as the need arises. Must be able to travel to offsite storage facility for records retrieval and return.
Environmental Factors:
Requires prolonged sitting (70%), standing (20%), bending, stooping and stretching for files and supplies (10%). Requires manual dexterity sufficient to operate a keyboard and other office equipment. Vision must be correctable to 20/20 and hearing must be in the normal range for telephone contacts.
Equipment Use:
Personal Computer, Telephone, Copier, Fax Machine and medical records wand.
Characteristics:
Willing to effectively participate as a team member with the medical records department. Communicates effectively in a professional and courteous manner and remains flexible.
Hourly Rate:
Starting @ $17.19; based on experience
