Description
The LPN works as part of the treatment team to deliver individualized nursing care to the clients enrolled at The Grove, a Level II adolescent substance use treatment program.
This position is a part-time position with a starting pay of $23.00 per hour with credit given for relative education and experience above what is required for the position. This position is non-exempt.
- Implements nursing care in accordance with program procedures established by the Medical Director.
- Supports client admission process by providing support with: 1) physical assessment data and health history according to 65D-30 standards; 2) obtain all laboratory specimen which are the responsibilities of nursing staff; and 3) lab work documentation and specimen submissions to laboratory
- Screens and provides first response to clients in the residential program, including obtaining health history, screening for TB and contagious disease, and screening accidents and medical complaints, e.g. cuts, earaches, sore throats, reported pain, etc., making referrals for other services when necessary.
- Administers drugs, medications, treatments, inoculations, and tests as allowed by law.
- Implements verbal physician orders and authenticating in writing, within a reasonable time, and included in the client record.
- Communicates with physicians, Nurse Practitioners, Physician Assistants, nurses, and other residential staff; and parents/guardians as needed
- Completing other tasks within the scope of licensed practical nurse and the program services and procedures
- May assist with client education groups on topics such as Overdose Prevention, HIV/AIDS and more.
- Assist with pharmacy orders, oversight and administration of the MOR (medication observation record) and assures medications are prepared daily in med cart; may assist with medication observation as needed
- Executes prescribed treatments and medical interventions, including transcribing and administering routine and prescribed medications in accordance with procedures established by the Medical Director and psychiatric provider
- Records client observations and activities in client records accurately and timely in accordance with nursing standards and organizational policy and procedure and reports/communicates daily to supervisory administrative and medical staff these incidences
- Maintains a safe and sanitary environment applying principles of medical asepsis and applying infection control techniques and universal precautions.
- Provides client education on healthcare, as assigned or appropriate.
- Follows all policies and procedures with regard to client information protection, client confidentiality and HIPAA.
- Maintains and demonstrates a current working knowledge of applicable 65D-30 standards, clinical procedures and nursing care based on company policy and State and Federal guidelines.
- Abides by the ethics, policies and procedures, and professional standards of IMPOWER, Inc.
- Completes required essential learning trainings within designated time frames
- Completes all other tasks and duties as assigned or as needed to help drive The Grove and IMPOWER's vision, fulfill our mission, and abide by our organization's values.
- Other duties as required
Qualifications, Education, Experience:
- Must be a graduate of an accredited school of nursing and currently licensed in the State of Florida as a Licensed Practical Nurse (LPN)
- Successful background screenings through the Florida Department of Law Enforcement, State and County and AHCA
- Valid drivers license and auto insurance, and successful motor vehicle driving record background check
- Negative result from a multi panel drug screen
