Early 2021, we opened our US Office and have already grown to around 50 people. It's exciting times to be at Movu
Job Description
The COMMISSIONING/SERVICE ENGINEER is an integral person in helping our customer's vision for an automated storage solution from Movu US come to life. The core objective is to commission our storage solutions and integrate them with the customer's warehouse operations.

Customers: End users are located throughout the United States and Canada. We work with many of the leading integrators as our Sales partners.
Important to know
For the first 18 months or so, you may predominantly be working at a large project we have in Lima, OH. If you prefer, we'd be happy to help you relocate there. Alternatively, the travel schedule will be 70-100% on-site each workweek.
As our COMMISSIONING/SERVICE ENGINEER, you...
- are responsible for the setup, configuration, interfacing, and integration of the automated warehouse system
- interface with Warehouse Control System and Warehouse Management System and integrate them into the customer's warehouse and IT systems
- are responsible for the complete commissioning process until the project has been signed off by the customer
- are responsible for PLC software configuration and live testing (we use Beckhoff)
- work on electrical, mechanical, PLCs software (TCP/IP), sensors and safety devices
- work at a variety of customer sites, including cold storage facilities, and sometimes at heights (climbing on a rack with the appropriate safety gear/measures)
- perform troubleshooting, repairs, and maintenance of the technical installations at customer sites and proactively find solutions
- create and implement test procedures and technical reports
- provide technical support, on-site and remotely
- train the integrators, customer's maintenance and operative staff
- share technical knowledge with team members and participate in training
- detect commercial Service opportunities at current clients
This lets us know you're up for the job
- Experience with installing/commissioning automated systems, ideally in the material handling/automation/robotics field
- Strong working knowledge of electromechanical systems, sensors, and PLCs (any type)
- Bachelor's degree in the field of Engineering, ideally Mechatronics, Automation, Robotics, or Controls Engineering is a plus but not required if you bring relevant work experience as described above
- Affinity with software is preferred
- You're willing and able to travel to project sites across the United States and Canada consistently; typically, the work week is Monday-Friday but occasional weekend or evening work may be required, especially during the go-live phase.
- You either live in vicinity of a major airport with direct flights to Columbus/Dayton/Toledo, OH; or you live in driving distance to Lima, OH.
- If living away from a project site, the travel percentage will vary depending on project lifecycle, it should average at 80% across the year. With some exceptions such as during the go-live phase, weekend work is not required.
- Travel for onboarding and training to our Romeoville, IL office; and possibly also to our headquarters in Belgium (usually no more than 2 weeks for international visits)
- We work closely with our European colleagues. The morning hours are the most important so we can connect with them while our business hours overlap across time zones. Most people start their workday at 8 am CST. Start time will vary depending on the project site (e.g., West Coast projects)
