The mission of the Obstetrics andGynecology department is to provide the highest quality clinical care in bothgeneral and specialty Obstetrics and Gynecology to Central Virginia. Inaddition to the clinical mission, the department has the allied goals ofproviding undergraduate and graduate medical education in the field andadvancing the field through basic and clinical research.

Chief Purpose of this position:
The Department of Obstetrics andGynecology is seeking candidates to provide specialty care in Maternal-FetalMedicine. This position is designed to provide specialty care in Maternal-FetalMedicine, including labor and delivery coverage, in- and outpatientconsultation, prenatal diagnosis, ultrasound, management of high-riskpregnancy, and performance of specialty specific procedures. The position willinclude participation in student, resident, and fellow education as well as inthe department's clinical research activities.
Position Responsibilities:
Teaching
The faculty member will have teaching responsibilities to include activelyparticipating in the department's educational activities, with particularattention to educating students, residents, and fellows in their coreeducational objectives in maternal fetal medicine.
Research
The person filling the position is expected to initiate research projects. Theyare expected to provide leadership and mentoring to MFM Fellows, Ob/Gynresidents, and medical students engaged in research and contribute to scholarlypublications/presentations.
Service
Faculty member will serve on departmental, hospital, and university committeesas necessary, as well as in a professional capacity in their field. Thematernal fetal medicine specialist will be assigned to committees at thediscretion of the division director and department chair.
Clinical
Full participation in the clinical activities of the maternal fetal medicinedivision is expected. Clinical activities are to be determined by theMaternal-Fetal Medicine division director but are expected to include a combinationof obstetric clinics, Ob/Gyn ultrasound, and labor and delivery coverage.Outpatient responsibilities may be at VCU Medical Center or off-site at thediscretion of the chair and division director.
Other
Participate in department and institutional administrative activities asassigned by the division director and department chair.
Required Qualifications:
- Completion of training in General OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine equivalent to ACGME and ABOG accredited programs
- Eligible for Medical license in Virginia
- Demonstrated experience working in and fostering a diverse faculty, staff, and student environment or commitment to do so as a faculty member at VCU
- Completion of an ACGME accredited OB/GYN residency
- Completion of an ACGME accredited fellowship training program in Maternal-Fetal Medicine
- Certification by the American Board of OB/GYN in General OB/GYN and Maternal-Fetal Medicine; candidates who completed their fellowship recently enough that they are not yet eligible to sit for the exam will be considered with the expectation that they take the certification exams at the earliest opportunity
