Long Description The primary function of this position will be to research, plan, coordinate design, and monitor mechanical, electromechanical, and welding equipment in support of meeting production goals. Work across the organization to foster continuous improvement for long-term success.
DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES
- Understand and comply with all OSHA, safety and PPE requirements
- Health & Safety of self and colleagues, including outside contractors or support personnel.
- Create, document, develop and deliver procedures to ensure the equipment meets all targets relating to Quality, Delivery, and Cost.
- Act as the owner and technical leader/expert of the process, tasked with monitoring and maintaining all systems in the process. These include (but are not limited to):
- Hot Stamping Presses /Lines and Cold Stamping Presses
- Robotics (Used for material handling and processing)
- Analyze current equipment conditions and operating characteristics and seek opportunities for improvement
- Analyze available data to develop and implement strategies to improve department KPIs (run rate, throughput, material reduction). Determine if new data collection is needed and make proposals to improve
- Support maintenance with chronic/catastrophic downtime troubleshooting
- Generate documentation to achieve sustainability ("How To" documents, procedures, etc.)
- Perform PM Optimization based on (DT,History ,OEM recommendation, Failure mode, Short Loop feedback, etc.)
- Spare parts early management
- Work with vendors on potential new products that could replace / improve current products and increase reliability / longevity
- Assist and train Maintenance Team on Standardization of Maintenance Processes
- Implement 5s and deploy to the Team
- Improve overall processes and related issues by taking a pro-active lead in the Continuous Improvement Activities for Quality, Deliver, and Cost.
- Other duties will include the design, installation and de-bug of machinery and capital equipment.
- Support the Program Management group in evaluation of new work, processes, and engineering changes.
- Support the Quality group in evaluation and improvement of product dimensional reports.
- Support team functions by:
- Kaizen submittal and implementation
- Cross-training with others
- Problem solving
- Supports operational metrics and meets operational needs
- Maintenance support during on-line troubleshooting and implementation of corrective actions including interface with controls, robots, and PLC systems.
- Participation in the Layered Process Audit schedule
- Participation in the Internal ISO/TS 16949 Audit schedule (applies only to certified ISO/TS 16949 internal auditors)
Bachelor's degree in electronic / mechanical engineering / Technical degree or equivalent. -or- 5+ years' related experience
Prior experience in manufacturing environment. Automotive experience preferred.
KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES
- Mechanical hands-on expertise on Press REQUIRED (preferably: Fagor, Eagle, Danly, Shuller, Loire)
- Available for working on weekends /Holidays on maintenance/projects REQUIRED
- Able to lead project/follow up with vendors coordinate/lead the team in case of maintenance tasks (corrective/preventive) REQUIRED
- Ability to read and understand electrical and pneumatic prints.
- Basic knowledge of PLC's A-B Control Logix & PanelView HMI's.
- Welding experience is a plus.
- Clear understanding of Lean Principals & Tools.
