Title: Senior Associate, Real Estate Investment Accounting

Job Summary

This individual will be responsible for providing and overseeing accounting and reporting functions for equity and debt real estate. The ideal candidates will have accounting expertise in real estate or other alternative investment industries. Our teams consist of highly skilled professionals who are expected to provide accurate, timely, and efficient accounting and financial reporting results. These individuals will be responsible for the following areas:

Primary Responsibilities

  • Work closely with third party servicers to monitor data feeds and cash remittance for commercial mortgage loan investments. Ensure accurate and timely recording of financial data.
  • Preparation of quarterly reports and footnotes in accordance with generally accepted accounting principles.
  • Work closely with appropriate Property Managers to ensure accurate and timely submission of property financial data and support for quarterly reporting.
  • Work closely with team to ensure and accurate and timely review of accounting and reporting deliverables.
  • Perform some treasury functions including cash reconciliations as well as handling wire responsibilities for operating distributions, capital distributions, and capital calls.
  • Work closely with upper level management from Portfolio and Asset Management to accommodate day-to-day informational and support requests.
  • Work closely with internal/external clients to manage deliverables and requests.
  • Assist in quarterly/year-end reviews of property operations for investments in assigned portfolio to ensure accounting in accordance with Barings policies & procedures as well as generally accepted accounting principles.
Qualifications
  • Experience either in public or private industry with alternative investments, real estate preferred
  • Experience in reviewing and preparing general ledgers and financial statements
  • Real estate equity accounting and a strong knowledge of GAAP, including Investment Company Guide, is desired
  • Knowledge of investment and partnership accounting desired
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting is required
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills
  • Working knowledge of Excel and Word essential, Investran and MRI experience are a plus
