Job Summary

The Mental Health Specialist reports to the Director of Special Education & Student Services. The Mental Health Specialist provides mental and behavioral health services to district students with the goal of facilitating and promoting appropriate mental health and personal growth. The Mental Health Specialist identifies the mental health needs of student and develops therapy goals and objectives for implementation through an individual therapy plan. The Mental Health Specialist must have the ability to be flexible under pressure and adapt to interruptions and changes efficiently.

Requirements / Qualifications
• Pupil Personnel Services (PPS) Credential in School Counseling, School Psychology or School Social Work.
• Master's or Doctoral Degree in Social Work, Psychology, Counseling or related field.
• Valid California Board of Behavioral Sciences (BBS) License as a Licensed Marriage and Family Therapist (LMFT), Licensed Clinical Social Worker (LCSW), Licensed Professional Clinical Counselor (LPCC), Licensed in Psychology regulated by the Board of Psychology, or License eligible preferred.
• Will consider an Associate Social Worker or an Associate Marriage and Family Therapist.
• One (1) year of experience providing mental health therapy services or counseling and guidance support in an educational setting.
• Two (w) years of experience in the mental/behavioral health plan process, including direct services, developing and monitoring behavioral support plans, treatment plans, monitoring progress and termination of services.
• One (1) year of experience in Medi-Cal Charting is beneficial
• One (1) year of experience working with a Special Education Local Plan Area or School District Operations is beneficial.
• Two (2) years of experience providing training to parents, school district staff, and/or community-based organizations is beneficial.
• Fingerprint and tuberculosis clearances as required by law
