Position Purpose

The Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) Lead plays a crucial role in monitoring production floor activities to uphold our Safety First culture. In this role, you will collaborate with plant leadership to implement HSE initiatives, conduct safety audits, and ensure compliance with corporate policies and environmental regulations.

Major Responsibilities:

  • Oversee production floor operations to ensure compliance with CHEP safety standards.
  • Assist in maintaining compliance with local, State, and Federal environmental regulations.
  • Implement and execute all strategies related to the CHEP safety program.
  • Track safety performance metrics and report findings to management.
  • Support team member training and development in line with health, safety, and environmental guidelines.
  • Maintain and organize safety documentation for all plant employees.
  • Lead safety committees, address pending safety concerns, and develop mitigation plans.
  • Support and occasionally lead safety system improvement projects.
  • Collaborate with the Regional HSE Specialist and site leadership to manage plant risks.
  • Conduct safety training and orientations for new hires.
  • Drive continuous improvement in safety practices and policies across the plant.

Authority: Decision-making authority related to safety with approval from plant leadership.

Qualifications/Experience:

  • High School diploma or equivalent.
  • Previous experience in a safety role within a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong focus on customer service and employee relations.
  • Ability to work collaboratively across functions.
  • Experience in monitoring HSE performance and implementing safety programs.

Skills and Knowledge:

  • Ability to manage quality processes and motivate teams effectively.
  • Excellent problem-solving and strategic thinking skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite, including Excel, Word, and PowerPoint.

Physical Requirements & Working Conditions:

  • May involve standing for extended periods, intermittent bending, and lifting.
  • Work environment may include exposure to noise, dust, and varying temperatures.
  • Personal protective equipment (PPE) is mandatory.

Languages Required: English. Desired: Spanish.

Education Preferred: High School.

Experience Level: 1 - 3 years.

Remote Work: This position is not remote.
