POSITION SUMMARY

The Recreation Coordinator will oversee the recreational goals of the facility and is responsible for establishing recreational entertainment for children in care to include the designing, coordination, and facilitation of social/cultural/and educational activities and outings. The Recreation Coordinator position is also tasked with ensuring consistent implementation of program procedures, organization, and management of data and related documentation. Further, demonstrates appropriate boundaries with youth, and ensures appropriate care and supervision. Promoting a work environment conducive to safety and effective communication, collaboration, team building and professionalism. Promotes cross collaboration with other departments to provide a comprehensive continuum of services to clients.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS AND COMPETENCIES
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • Minimum 1 years of experience in recreation or related field preferred.
  • Ability to obtain fingerprint clearance card, CPR, CPI and First Aid Certifications.
  • Bilingual language skills in English/Spanish and as appropriate to population served required.
  • Must be computer literate and possess basic computer skills, such as data entry and usage of Microsoft Office.
  • Must be able to report to work in cases of emergencies.
  • Cleared background check from appropriate entity.
  • Cleared drug test results.
  • Able to follow technical instructions.
  • Ability to build a strong, dedicated team.
  • Ability to apply empathy and culturally sensitive when working with clients and staff
  • Training, education and experience in community outreach, public health or social work preferred.
