Salary: $17-$22/hr. with full-time benefits

Job Summary
The pharmacy technician will work closely with patients to deliver a full continuum of medication adherence working out of a well-lighted, environmentally controlled, and newly remodeled pharmacy. Primarily interacts with nursing staff, Business Office staff, staff of area drug stores, representatives of pharmaceutical supply companies. Must have the ability to work with a variety of patients of all populations (e.g. developmentally appropriate care, cultural diversity, patients with pain, victims of abuse or neglect, and diagnosis or procedure specific such as patient with congestive heart failure or cesarean delivery).

RESPONSIBILITIES & ABILITIES:
  • Directly supervised by the Director of Community Pharmacy and indirectly supervised by Staff Pharmacists
  • Prepare prescription orders by entering prescription data, verifying information, and pulling appropriate prescriptions from inventory.
  • Apply labels to medication packaging, scan and assemble into appropriate bins in an accurate and timely manner.
  • Alert pharmacist on duty of any medication that is not scanning properly.
  • May be required to travel to other hospitals and pharmacies in the area to pick up drugs.
  • Participate in training and development activities to gain proficiency in other Data Entry & Fulfillment workflow areas.
  • Communicate inventory needs to ensure adequate supply of medication available to complete all orders.
  • Assist in maintaining inventory at appropriate levels, including removing expired or unused meds, marking used bottles, and keeping inventory neat and arranged in-order. May assist in physical inventory.
  • Consistently meet pharmacy's established accuracy and productivity levels.
  • Work collaboratively with other supervisors/functional areas to keep work fl owing smoothly and efficiently. This may require supporting company's Inpatient Pharmacy, when needed.
  • Maintain clean and orderly workstation. Put medications away and replenish all stock supplies needed.
  • Resolve insurance-related issues, including prior authorizations, and providing patient support with various forms of financial assistance.
  • Off -site visits to clinics, delivery locations, long-term care facilities, sister pharmacies, other departments, or community events may be required to facilitate timely patient care and community outreach.
  • Comply with local, state, and federal laws, regulations, and policies pertaining to the dispensing of prescription medications.
  • Other essential functions and duties may be assigned as needed.
  • Ability to work flexible hours, including rotating nights, rotating weekends, and rotating holidays.

EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE:
  • High School Diploma or GED (per state requirements)
  • Pharmacy Technician license/certification/registration (per state requirements)
  • National Certification preferred (PTCB)
  • APhA Pharmacy-Based Immunization Administration by Pharmacy Technician's certification preferred.

QUALIFICATIONS:
  • 1+ years of related experience (technical knowledge/skills may substitute for experience) preferred.
  • Basic computer skills required, with ability to learn new software systems.
  • Basic math skills and ability to calculate medication dosages, quantities, and volumes.
  • Ability to work independently and deliver to deadlines.
  • Great attention to detail and accuracy
  • Ability to excel in a fast-paced, team-oriented environment working on multiple tasks simultaneously, while adhering to strict deadlines
  • Quality minded; motivated to seek out errors and inquire about inaccuracies.
  • Work Ethic/Integrity - must possess intrinsic drive to excel coupled with values in line with company philosophy.

Working Conditions
  • Frequent bending, stooping, walking, or standing is involved. Lifting and carrying of supplies is involved. Occasional climbing to store and retrieve supplies. Handling and fingering of drugs, labels, and supplies. Near visual acuity needed.
  • Standing: 60% Walking: 25% Sitting: 10% Lifting: 5%
    Work near chemotherapy drugs and flammable items such as alcohol, ethyl chloride, etc.
  • Equipment: Machines, Tools, Materials and Work Aides, Computer, typewriter, calculator, laminar airflow hood, copy machine, UD package machine, Pyxis machine, prescription price lists, and Policy and Procedure Manuals.
