Radiology Technicians are responsible for the following:

  • Interacts with co-workers, visitors, and other staff consistent with the values of Jefferson.
  • Appropriately positions radiographic equipment or x-ray film to produce images with necessary detail or contrast in order to assist with diagnosis and treatment.
  • Explains radiographic procedure to the patient, obtains complete and accurate history relevant to the examination to being performed. Communicates effectively with the patient.
  • Provides staff and patient protection in accordance with prescribed radiation safety standards, including placement of shields/aprons in order to limit radiation exposure.
  • Implements and monitors local, state and national regulations, standards, requirements and clinical protocols for radiologic imaging services.
  • Maintains x-ray equipment by performing scheduled cleaning/tests and documents results.
  • Maintains and updates patient and study information to ensure billing and RIS/PACS accuracy; handles patient records while maintaining patient confidentiality.
  • Performs other related technologist duties as directed by the lead technologist, supervisor or manager, including those related to quality assurance and/or control.
  • Responsible for maintaining continuing education required for licenses and job position.
  • Other duties as assigned.

The Radiology Technologist performs x-ray scans of patient#39;s internal anatomy to aid physicians in diagnosing illnesses, diseases, or injuries. Executes radiologic services in compliance with relevant laws and regulations and provides consultation advice to patients and radiology professionals. Delivers patient care and education before, during and after diagnostic imaging procedures.

Qualifications for this position include:

  • Education: Graduate of an approved American Registry of Radiologic Technologist (ARRT) program or current validated Registry from ARRT in Radiology Technology (R). ARRT (R), (CT) Preferred.
  • Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification.
  • License as required by state.

Since this position will require the selected candidate to engage in regular contact with children in the form of care, guidance, supervision or training, you will be required to meet the requirements of the Child Protective Services Act, including the Pennsylvania State Police criminal background check, the Pennsylvania Department of Welfare child abuse criminal background clearance, and an FBI finger print based federal criminal records check. The selected candidate will not be allowed to commence working until all three (3) are completed satisfactorily.

Covid Vaccination is a requirement for employment at Jefferson for employees working at Jeffersonrsquo;s clinical entities or at the University. If you are not currently vaccinated you will be required to receive the vaccination prior to hire date if you are offered employment, unless you request and receive an approved medical or religious exemption from Jefferson.
