The School Psychologist Intern will be provided experience with the following job responsibilities under the supervison of an experienced school psychologist.

Essential Functions:

• Completing comprehensive psycho-educational assessments for students ranging in age from 5 to 21 years old
• Consultation with teachers, parents, and IEP team members related to academic and behavioral interventions and educational programming.
• Opportunities through the Mental Health Wellness Initiative for counseling, mindfulness practice, and skills groups. • Co-facilitating professional development trainings.
• Provide support to students and educational teams in the event of a crisis.
• Participate in collaborative monthly meetings with practicing school psychologists working in a variety of settings.
• Support students and families as they transition from early intervention to school-aged services and from school-aged services to adult life.

Physical Demands: The physical demands described here are representative of those that must be met by an employee to successfully perform the essential functions of this job.

While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to sit and use hands. The employee is frequently required to walk; reach with hands and arms and talk or hear. The employee must frequently lift and/or move up to 10 pounds and occasionally lift and/or move up to 25 pounds.

Position Type/Expected Hours of Work: This is a full-time, 196 day calendar position. Days of work are Monday through Friday and hours are dependent on the needs of the district. Occasional evening and/or weekend work may be required as job duties demand.

Level of Degree:

Must be enrolled in an accredited school psychology graduate program and working towards state certification

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

• Must have knowledge of consultative, assessment and intervention components of school psychology
• Ability to analyze and synthesize the concepts involved in individual, group and systems consultation
• Must be able to evaluate and interpret data from a variety of assessment measures used in school psychology data-based decision-making
• Demonstrate knowledge of individual differences due to diverse cultural backgrounds and relationship to psychological assessment
• Ability to design and implement academic and behavioral interventions
• Demonstrate competence in oral and written communication, technology and personal organization
• Demonstrate understanding of the principles of professional ethics and standards of practice as outlined by the National Association of School Psychologists
• Knowledge of legal issues related to education and psychology
