JOB DESCRIPTION
Burlington - ED
The Emergency Department Registered Nurse (ED RN) provides comprehensive, patient-centered care in a fast-paced environment. The ED RN is responsible for assessing, planning, implementing, and evaluating nursing care for patients experiencing medical emergencies. This role requires strong clinical skills, the ability to work under pressure, and effective communication with both patients and the healthcare team.
Key Responsibilities:
Patient Assessment: Perform initial and ongoing assessments of patients to identify needs and prioritize care.
Care Coordination: Collaborate with physicians, nursing staff, and other healthcare professionals to develop and implement individualized care plans.
Emergency Response: Provide immediate care to patients in critical condition, including administering medications, IVs, and life-saving interventions.
Patient Education: Educate patients and families about health conditions, treatment plans, and discharge instructions.
Documentation: Maintain accurate and timely documentation of patient assessments, interventions, and outcomes in electronic medical records.
Infection Control: Adhere to infection control policies and procedures to ensure a safe environment for patients and staff.
Team Collaboration: Participate in multidisciplinary team meetings and contribute to quality improvement initiatives.
Support and Advocacy: Provide emotional support and advocacy for patients and families during crisis situations.

Required Certifications:
ACLS, PALS, BLS, TNCC, NIHSS
De-escalation not required
Skills required
Triage, assisting with RSI/intubation, procedural sedation, restraints, blood products -mass transfusion, experience in stroke -neuro alert /criteria, trauma activations/care, Cardiac -STEMI
Support on the Unit:
Techs (Ratio - 1:10)
Charge nurse: does this person have patient load? Yes; mostly full patient load
Phlebotomy- assist with blood draws if needed
RT: 24/7
Hospitalist: 24/7
Midlevel from 10a-10p
Bedside/nurses station tele monitoring
Charting System/Equipment:
Epic- preferred
Alaris
Pyxis
Floating:
No
Orientation:
1 day of hospital and 1 day of unit orientation.
Scheduling:
Weekend rotation every 3rd other
Will they be on call? If so, what is that schedule? No
