MSHS Center Specialist - GLCAP Shiloh

40 hours week, 7:30 am - 4:30 pm.

Summary: Manage and direct the daily operation of assigned Migrant and Seasonal Head Start (MSHS) site. Education:

Required Bachelor degree in Early Childhood Education, Business Management, Social Work or related field.

Experience:

One to three years experience in early childhood education or related field; up to one year experience working with word processing, spreadsheet, internet, and database software; prefer one to three years supervisory experience.

As a condition of employment, the following are additional requirements:
  1. Initial and periodic Motor Vehicle Records checks, maintain a valid driver's license, and maintain a safe driving record.
  2. Must have insured, dependable transportation available for daily use.
  3. Initial and periodic physical exams required.
  4. Must submit to initial and/or periodic state and/or federal criminal checks.
  5. Must submit to initial and periodic drug and alcohol testing.
  6. Ability to be reached by cellular phone during business hours and after hours.
Duties and Responsibilities:
  1. Manage, direct and monitor the daily operation of assigned MSHS site(s) in compliance with Head Start Performance Standards, Ohio Early Learning Standards, ODJFS Licensing, Step Up to Quality, NAEYC, and policies and procedures.
  2. In partnership with Teacher Coach, ensure teaching staff utilize and implement Conscious Discipline, the Creative Curriculum and Teaching Strategies GOLD and demonstrate progress towards established school readiness goals.
  3. Ensure teaching staff develop and implement weekly lesson plans that incorporate parent engagement, individualization, IFSP/IEP goals, and multi-cultural and multi-lingual support.
  4. Support teacher-child interactions and ensure children are provided a variety of opportunities that prompt investigation and offer reflection and critical thinking skills.
  5. Maintain and monitor records and submit accurate reports and requested information on a timely basis.
  6. Organize and/or attend staff, parent, community and state meetings to build effective relationships, report updates and stay informed on the latest research and best practices in the Early Childhood field.
Supervisory Responsibilities:

Carries out supervisory responsibilities in accordance with the organization's policies and applicable laws. Responsibilities include the following:
  1. Interview, hire, and train employees.
  2. Plan, assign, and direct work.
  3. Appraise performance.
  4. Reward and discipline employees.
  5. Address complaints and resolve problems.
