Description

GreatWater 360 Auto Care, a network of local full-service auto-repair shops serving communities across the Midwest and Texas, is seeking a highly motivated Automotive Technical Training Manager who has a proven track record of success in delivering results.

Purpose & Objective:

Technical Trainer collaborates with Field Operations team and leverages his industry knowledge to create effective learning opportunities and career advancement paths for GreatWater Technicians. This position does not directly supervise others but requires the Technical Training Manager to oversee various training programs and leads Technicians through their technical skills development.

Job Responsibilities and Duties:
  • Technical Training Manager develops training curriculum for GreatWater technicians designed to keep them up to date with evolving technology.
  • Facilitates in-person and virtual technical training classes for Technician.
  • Regularly reviews GreatWater's current training content, implements enhancements and additions to curriculum based on field need and industry's evolving technology.
  • Works with SSC, Regional Managers and District Managers to successfully implement various training programs, including our Apprentice Program, Technician Career Development paths for A, B and C level techs, plus various advanced diagnostic training.
  • Develops teammate/position specific technical career development path and tracks progress.
  • Establishes and fosters relationships with Tech Schools.
  • Assists in technical skills assessments when needed.
  • Develops and facilitates Tech training plan and on occasion provides one-on-one training support.
  • Communicates with Operations team regarding technician progress, wins, and any possible challenges.
  • Leverages 3rd party technical training partners coordinating classes into GreatWater's training curriculum.
  • Collaborates with Shop Support Center, District Managers and Operating Partners to build training calendars along with technician training schedules.
  • Manages the technical training sign-up/registration process through Resource Engine.
  • Occasionally performs testing of tools and processes as needed prior to implementation.
Requirements
  • 8 or more years Master Automotive L1 Technician experience or a combination of experience and training to be a Master Automotive Technician.
  • 5 or more years automotive technical training experience
  • 5 or more years' experience developing automotive technical training curriculum.
  • Degree in Automotive Technology preferred.
  • Advanced knowledge and skill in passenger and light truck diagnostics, including using various diagnostic platforms and testing procedures.
  • Ability to communicate in written forms both with hand-written communication and typed communication.
  • Experience with various training platforms, and software including Microsoft Teams, PowerPoint, Word and Excell.
  • Ability to train automotive technicians via hands-on/demonstration, in-person instructor led and virtual training.
  • Ability to travel up to 40%.
