This opportunity is for an innovative Mechanical Engineer with the desire to develop a deep technical expertise in the structure of our dishwasher product. This is a hands-on engineering position within the Structure & Acoustics COE, a part of the Dishwasher Product Line. Engineers within the Structure & Acoustics COE will be responsible for the design development, qualification, and execution of all subsystem projects in their assigned area of NPI (New Product Introduction), Quality Engineering, or Productivity. The initial focus for this position will be supporting NPIs for both manufactured and/or sourced products.

How You'll Create Possibilities
- Develop, validate, and implement detailed system design solutions to drive innovations and continuous improvement in product performance, cost, and quality.
- Ownership of concept development for new designs using tools such as DFMEA, GD&T, Creo, Polyworks, prototyping and testing labs.
- Validate the effectiveness of system design solutions utilizing Design for Six Sigma, Design for Reliability, and LEAN methodologies.
- Design projects and proposals will need to be reviewed and defended in peer and technical reviews.
- Update and develop new Engineering Test Procedures to support the continuous improvements for current and new products and document project learnings via Design Guides, Design Practices, and Design Record Books.
- Participate in competitive teardowns and conduct performance benchmarking to identify opportunities and best practices for adoption
- Drive craftsmanship into design solutions to deliver best-in-class fit, feel, and finish
- Interface with other COE engineers and cross-functional team members to ensure design changes effectively integrate at the system level and into the production process.
- Promote technical growth and continuous improvement within the COE by sharing lessons learned and best practices with peers.
- Work with the COE Leader to develop a personal roadmap to grow expertise, including appropriate classroom training and hands-on experience, within the assigned COE focus area
- Work closely with the Dishwasher Safety Program Manager and Robustness Leader to improve product robustness through design and process changes to targeted product segments.
Qualifications/Requirements -
- Bachelor's Degree in Mechanical or Electrical Engineering
- Minimum 5 years of part and/or subsystem design experience in consumer products or similar fields.
- Proven record of engineering analysis, evaluation planning, and design execution success.
- Experience in building and testing prototypes with a willingness to be hands-on and work in a lab and factory environment to develop/test various design concepts.
- Plastic molding or extensive plastic part design experience with subsystem interaction consideration
- Imaginative problem-solving skills with a strong customer focus
- Demonstrated leadership ability with strong written and verbal communication skills
- Advanced Mechanical Engineering Degree
- Additional experience in dishwasher structure and/or acoustics design
- Proficient in 3-D modeling software such as Pro-E or Solid-works packages
- Single-part CAE capability
- Experience in plastic and metal part design
- Six Sigma / Lean certification
- Reliability Practitioner
- Working knowledge of C-change and New Product Introduction processes
- Experience with LEAN manufacturing principals
