Meter Room I

The Meter Room Operator is responsible for processing packages and certified mail to meet USPS postage standard by verifying correct postage before mailing out packages. The Meter Room Operator will also organize and log packages before finalizing and submitting jobs to USPS.
Duties / Responsibilities:
- Manual handling and inspection of packages to ensure labeling is to USPS standards.
- Check and submit balances of each meter machine prior to shift start.
- Ensure packages are processed to meet all customer deadlines.
- Print end-of-day report and create logs for billing.
- Quality control includes ensuring certified mail is accurately labeled according to the proper destination.
- Ensure the work area is free of hazards and clean of debris.
- Follows all required safety procedures and communicates all concerns regarding safety to the department manager.
- Work with other departments to ensure job schedules are maintained and customer expectations are exceeded.
- General warehouse and other duties as assigned.
- Attention to detail and quality control.
- Cooperative and team-oriented attitude
- Ability to work in a fast - paced environment.
- Ability to read, write and comprehend simple instructions.
- Must be dependable, able to follow instructions and respond to management direction.
- High school diploma is preferred.
- Experience in mail processing is a plus.
- Prior warehouse type setting experience a plus.
