In this role, you may work on a variety of projects that could include Advanced technology projects including Data Centers, Semiconductors, EV Battery, Water treatment, wastewater treatment, mineral processing, pulp/paper facilities, specialty chemical plants, Steel, Aluminum, and industrial energy projects - just to name a few. Our rapidly growing Industrial Design Group, which includes process, electrical, controls, structural, architectural, geotechnical, and civil disciplines, is a multi-faceted and leading-edge division of Kiewit with best-in-class technical expertise focused on EPC and design-build delivery of industrial projects in markets such as Food & Beverage, Consumer Products, Heavy Manufacturing, Industrial Buildings Industrial Water and Utilities. We have specialized expertise in plant floor process design, packaging, refrigerated/frozen facility design, and ammonia refrigeration systems. Location This position can be located out of Lenexa Kansas. We offer relocation assistance to the area. Responsibilities Prepare electrical engineering deliverables that could include: one-lines, layout, design schematics, wiring diagrams, equipment data sheets, hazardous area classification drawings, electrical power studies, etc... Perform complex calculations and applies standards correctly, without supervision Takes a leadership role when working with peers; able and willing to run projects and lead others Formulate technical specifications and prepare interface points with construction partners. Schedule, review, and coordinate design efforts with other project personnel, performing bid evaluations of equipment and construction proposals and developing recommendations for contract award. Review electrical requirements for new facilities and project plans. Review application of standards for correct interpretations (including NEC). Lead quality checks of the design and engineering of a mid to major sized project to ensure accuracy. Perform ETP analysis and simulation, system modeling, protection coordination, reliability studies, load flow studies and grounding integrity Utilize SmartPlant for balance of plant electrical systems design. Mentor, train and guide junior engineers, maintaining a comprehensive understanding of departmental design standards, applicable engineering codes, and Kiewit guidelines, providing suggestions and recommendations as needed. Serve as a resource and subject matter expert for the discipline. Lead projects, and other Engineers, including both in-house inter-discipline engineers and construction partners to provide our Clients the industry’s best of both engineering and physical design. Support RFP, Pre-Feed, FEED, D/B and EPC projects for electrical designs across multiple markets Qualifications Bachelor’s degree in Electrical Engineering from an ABET accredited four-year college or university and EIT license is required Minimum of 12+ years’ experience performing Electrical engineering design for Industrial facilities (which could include Chemical plants, Mining/Mineral Processing, Power, Water/Wastewater, Processing plants, Advanced manufacturing plants, data centers, EV Battery, power, petrochemical) Experience with ETAP Electrical Power System Analysis Software (or similar tool) for simulation/analysis is required Able to serve as technical resource, lead a project and be a point of contact for external or internal customers Able to lead team to complete task/design on a project, providing mentoring, design guidance to less experience engineers Experience working with a project team as the Engineering Discipline lead and coordinate with other stakeholders in engineering, procurement and construction on the projects Experience with SmartPlant, or similar electrical/plant software for designing electrical systems or I&C systems in a industrial facility Develop and presents work in a well constructed manner, excellent verbal communication skills with the ability to convey ideas and messages succinctly, with a collaborative approach to design and solve problems PE preferred, or willingness to obtain within one year Experience with FEED, D/B, EPC designs, familiar with 30/60/90% completion design progression Experience in field construction or startup and previous experience directing junior engineers is desirable Experience with power system studies, relay coordination, short circuit load flow, protection, relay coordination, arc flash, low to medium power preferred Experience with industry codes, guidelines and standards to include NEC, NFPA, and API Self-directed, able to work with limited to no supervision #LI-KS23 Other Requirements: Regular, reliable attendance Work productively and meet deadlines timely Communicate and interact effectively and professionally with supervisors, employees, and others individually or in a team environment.
