Reports to: Director of Pupil Personnel

Responsibilities:

*Establishes effective screening procedures within district for the identification of students with speech and/or hearing issues and required screenings.

*Evaluates students who have suspected or identified speech and/or hearing issues as referred by the classroom teacher district wide, outside referrals and transitioning students.

*Provides speech and language therapy to those students as identified as needing such in accordance with the speech and hearing program adopted by the Board of Education criteria established by the Ohio Department of Education and National Organization of Speech Language Pathologists.

*Cooperates with the school Principal and classroom teachers to assure an effectively coordinated speech/language intervention or therapy program in conjunction with regular classroom activities and other special services.

*Compiles such individual reports for filing in students cumulative records as may be deemed necessary to relate the diagnosis, treatment, and prognosis of students' speech and hearing difficulties.

*Evaluates the speech and hearing program in the context of current trends and practices and makes recommendations for its continued improvement in conjunction with the Director of Special Education.

* Prepares and maintains such records and reports as may be requested by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services/Director of Special Education including but not limited to progress reports, IEP's, ETR's and Medicaid billing.

*Performs such other duties as may be assigned by the Director of Pupil Personnel Services and/or Special Education Director.
