Your role as a Dementia Resource Specialist

In the role of Dementia Resource Specialist at the City of Pharr, you will spearhead the development of crucial referral relationships with physicians, dementia diagnostic clinics, and various healthcare providers. You will monitor the achievement of organizational goals and report progress to the Public Health Director, ensuring direction aligns with community needs. A key aspect of your responsibility will be to assist individuals with Alzheimer's Disease and other Related Dementias (ADRD) and their caregivers in navigating the L.I.F.E. (Leveraging Information for Everyone) Program while connecting them to available social services. Additionally, you will recruit and supervise interns, oversee the "Care Callers" Program, and refer families to healthcare practitioners for necessary evaluations and treatments.

You will also provide resources for legal and financial advice, contributing to the creation of dementia-friendly communities and enhancing the quality of life for those affected.

  • Ability to advocate on behalf of consumers.
  • Ability to keep and maintain accurate and confidential records.
  • Ability to communicate orally and in writing with clients, department personnel, medical care providers, state agency personnel and the public.
  • Ability to work effectively with the public, other agencies and the legal system.
