Certified Penetrant Inspector

BBSI is accepting applications for Certified Penetrant Inspectors for our aerospace manufacturing client in SE Portland.

Penetrant Inspectors examine castings using fluorescent penetrant to look for imperfections, defects, and cracks. They ensure castings meet company specifications for progressing to the next step in the manufacturing process.

Penetrant Inspectors play a vital role in ensuring that castings are made correctly to specification and are safe and ready for further production. Daily responsibilities include job duties such as:

  • Inspecting castings after the application of penetrant chemical mix and identifying defects
  • Determine if defective areas can be fixed, and sending to correct area for rework
  • Follow all safety protocols and procedures, and ensure a safe working environment
On the job training is provided.

Penetrant Inspectors work in dark rooms, so good vision (correctable) and attention to detail are important applicant characteristics. Additionally, we're seeking individuals with experience and skills such as the following:
  • Experience as a Penetrant Line Inspector or Operator (preferred) or equivalent experience and training
  • Penetrant Inspector Level 1 Certification or higher
  • Ability to read and follow written instructions
  • 20/30 correctable vision, and passage of depth perception and color vision tests
  • Ability to lift and/or maneuver objects weighing 20 to 40 pounds and occasionally up to 80 pounds

This position works in difficult conditions that may include exposure to noise, dust, chemicals, temperature extremes and other elements for extended periods of time.
