THE POSITION

The Department of General Services is looking for a motivated Custodial Worker to join our team at our Scranton State Office Building. This position gives you the opportunity to perform general cleaning duties within offices, restrooms, and other public areas. Your hard work is more than just a job, it is a career opportunity
In this Custodial Worker 1 position, you will:
- Sweep and mop restroom floors as well as wash and clean all restroom furnishings to include mirrors, toilets, urinals, partitions, walls, and sinks.
- Ensure that enough restroom supplies are available for use, replenishing supplies as needed and reporting any discrepancies, such as burnt-out or blinking light bulbs, plumbing leaks, or clogged drains, to the immediate supervisor.
- Clean and dust office furnishings, office equipment, and file cabinets and polish furniture items, such as chairs, desks, conference tables, and bookshelves.
- Operate pallet jacks and dollies to move furniture and materials from one area to another as well as use a commercial heavy-duty scrub machine (buffer) to clean and buff floors.
- Help remove snow and ice from building entrances, exits, sidewalks, driveways, and stairways as well as distributing deicing materials where needed, and assist maintenance personnel in the performance of their respective duties.

Work Schedule and Additional Information:
- Full-time employment
- Work hours are 6:00 AM to 2:00 PM, Monday - Friday, with a 30-minute lunch.
- Essential employee - this position is required to report to work during emergencies and office closings.
- Salary: In some cases, the starting salary may be non-negotiable.
