Job Descriptions:

We are seeking a Data Center Technician to join our team in Denver, Colorado. The on-site position will be working Day shift Thursday to Saturday and every other Wednesday.

This role is performed on-site and is not remote.

The Data Center Technician position combines the disciplines of facility management, project management, IT, and customer service. This position requires learning the intricacies of AC and DC electrical, HVAC, plumbing, telecommunications, and security within the data center. The Data Center Technician reports to the Manager of Facilities and may take direction from other facilities department personnel, as well as the executive team.

Functions/Responsibilities:

  • Performs basic diagnostics and troubleshooting with guidance from experienced technicians and by following standard procedures to identify the cause(s) of issues and replace faulty components with minimal customer and business disruption.

  • Follows procedures to communicate, report, and escalate incidents to appropriate data center operations management and Technician Leads.

  • Work with project teams/vendors to properly test and validate installation, operation, and performance of electrical/mechanical systems.

  • Take responsibility for and administer the physical security program, including tracking and creation of proximity cards, as well as biometric enrollment where applicable.

  • Maintain US Signal leased and owned site infrastructure, landscaping, and general upkeep for all US Signal owned and leased space.

  • Assist in the preventative maintenance program, to include scheduling and/or onsite completion of HVAC, UPS, AC, DC, Plumbing, Fire, and Security PM’s.

  • Coordinate and schedule building maintenance, and the activities of sub-contractors.

  • Maintain efficient record keeping for security, general building, vendor, and contract files.

  • Suggest, document, and implement departmental policies to gain efficiencies.

  • Work with other departments to help facilitate and streamline inter-departmental procedures. Manage facility growth projects to include property, layout, electrical, HVAC, fire suppression, and security.

  • Draft, prepare, and review facility documents, floor plans, and schematics.

  • Perform customer site tours and provide sales engineering assistance with colocation space needs and design.

  • Preform customer escorts and remote hands requests.

  • Coordinate and manage all shipping and receiving.

  • Special projects as determined by USS management.

  • Provide after-hours support as needed.

Required Experience:

Competencies:

  • Attention to detail, highly accurate, and possess excellent organizational skills.

  • Self-driven and possess the ability to manage projects and multi-task to meet strict deadlines.

  • High level of analytical ability and effective communicator (written and verbal).

  • Proficiency in the use of Microsoft Office Products (i.e. Word, Excel, Outlook, Visio, Project)

  • Desire to manage various projects, contractors, and vendors to maintain a data center that requires a high level of attention to detail, cleanliness, and a polished appearance.

  • Ability to work well within all areas of the US Signal organization as well as external customers and vendors.

  • Experience or willingness to learn hands-on work with electrical, plumbing, HVAC, and security equipment.

  • Knowledge or willingness to learn electrical, fire, HVAC and building codes.

  • Basic IT networking knowledge a plus

Education:

The candidate will have technical training in telecommunications and/or experience with telecommunications offices’ infrastructure to include electrical, HVAC, fire suppression and security practices/services.

Experience:

Hands on experience working on electrical, HVAC, plumbing, or other facilities is a plus. Prior experience in the telecommunications industry is also a plus.

Working Conditions and Physical Demands:

This position operates in a variety of environments. The majority of the time is spent in a data center and this role routinely uses standard office equipment. This position requires unaided lifting up to 50#, climbing ladders or scaffolding, repeated bending, crouching, stooping, stretching and/or crawling.

Required License(s)/Certification(s):

Valid, active driver’s license with a good driving record as defined by the Company’s current insurance provider.
