Who We're Looking For:

Xwing is seeking Systems Safety Engineer to to work on the development of complex hardware and software intensive autonomous systems.  You will be part of a high-energy, collaborative team, aimed at taking the Xwing autonomy product from proof-of-concept through commercial certification.

 Responsibilities include but are not limited to:
  • Coordinate, generate, and review Functional Hazard Assessments (FHA), Fault Tree Analysis (FTA), Failure Modes and Effects Analysis (FMEA) 
  • Coordinate, generate, and review Common Cause Assessment (CCA) including Particular Risk Analysis (PRA), Common Mode Analysis (CMA), and Zonal Safety Analysis (ZSA)
  • Collaborate with other system safety engineers to develop sound technical solutions to novel problems and help lead the industry for performing system safety on autonomous aircraft
  • Work cross-functionally with our Hardware Integration, Certification, Systems Engineering, and Software teams to help drive safety-related findings to resolution.
  • Participate in design reviews and decision boards
  • Interface with the FAA directly to communicate system safety findings and help ensure compliance to regulatory requirements
  • Represent Xwing in industry committees to and help pave the way for autonomy

Required Qualifications:

  • Strong understanding of guidance material – such as Advisory Circular 23.1309-1E, SAE ARP 4761, and SAE ARP 4754A
  • 5+ years of relevant industry experience, preferably in aerospace and/or autonomy
  • Bachelor's Degree in Aerospace, Electrical, Mechanical, or Computer Engineering or related field
  • Effective at working in a multidisciplinary team and communicating across stakeholders
  • Ability to work in a fast paced, dynamic environment

Desirable Qualifications:

  • Thorough understanding systems engineering concepts and methods
  • Experience developing unmanned or highly autonomous systems
  • MS/PhD in a related field (CS / ME / AE / EE)
