The Senior Buyer is responsible for performing and supporting assignments related to the strategic procurement of over-the-road transportation modes (e.g. truckload, intermodal, dry bulk truck, dry rail, etc.) for Solvay group of companies in North America. This individual is responsible for an annual spend of over ~$100 million with approximately 50+ key logistics suppliers. Major activities include selection, negotiation, contracting and management of approved logistics suppliers. The procurement manager will collaborate with various business units to help optimize networks and logistics operation for 30+ North American facilities. **Responsibilities** * Lead and assist in the development of category strategies for various modes of transport (TL, IMDL, * Bulk truck, Rail). * Assist internal customers in defining their logistics scope of service. * Seek, share and present market intelligence for various transportation modes. * Prepare and execute bid events and e-auctions. * Qualify, approve and identify new logistics suppliers. * Negotiate, and manage logistics contracts with logistics suppliers. * Maintain and solidify relationships with all suppliers. * Collect, analyze and ensure data integrity to support procurement strategies. * Identify and execute value creation opportunities for internal customers. * Create and maintain procurement procedures and manuals. * Provide information to the Inland Logistics leadership as required, for monthly reports, market studies and market intelligence. * Understand thoroughly Solvays Quality and Safety Policy while complying with all corporate * guidelines. * Assists in the development and monitoring of performance metrics (KPIs). Education and Experience * Bachelors degree in Logistics and/or Engineering, or a related degree, required, masters preferred * 5-10 years of experience in purchasing, negotiation, procurement or transportation, with emphasis on over-the-road and rail. Skills * Excellent interpersonal skills * Strong negotiating skills * Proven analytical skills * Excellent written and verbal communication skills (English) * Commitment to teamwork and proven ability to work effectively in a team environment * Experience in the use of procurement tools (e-sourcing, contract management, bidding tools etc.) * Clear understanding of logistics terms and concepts * General computer knowledge (Excel, Word, Access, among others) Job ID
