POSITION PURPOSE
As a functional leader in the market, the Market President manages the community bank office(s) for a defined area or region and is responsible for directing business development, customer satisfaction, community leadership, promoting corporate culture, and achieving strategic goals and objectives. The position is responsible for developing and instituting strategies for market position growth and profitability targets.
EDUCATION AND WORK EXPERIENCE
- Master's degree or equivalent; or ten to fifteen years of related financial experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
- Experienced leader and financial executive with 10-15 years of executive-level financial and/or banking experience to include; proven leadership experience.
- Minimum 5 years of prior management experience.
- Experience with budgets and achieving financial results.
- Extensive knowledge of credit principles and practices, lending laws and regulations.
- 7-10 years of prior commercial and retail lending experience.
- Extensive knowledge of retail banking products and services.
- Strong financial and regulatory expertise with the banking industry.
- Graduate School of Banking preferred.
- General PC and peripherals.
- Strategic visionary, analytical ability, good judgment and strong operation focus.
- Energetic, forward thinking and creative with ethical standards and professional image.
- Decisive and possesses "big-picture" perspective.
- Well-organized, self-directed, team player.
- Articulate and able to relate to people at all levels of an organization with excellent communication skills; both written and verbal.
- Good educator, trustworthy and willing to share information and serve as a mentor.
- Strong financial, analytical and underwriting skills.
- Ability to provide leadership by example and through coaching, paying particular attention to performance, and providing positive reinforcement, training and support necessary for employee's success.
- Under the general direction of the business banking leader, develops and implements overall market financial growth and profitability targets while maintaining safety and soundness.
- Provides leadership and participates in appropriate community/civic activities to enhance the Bank's presence, image, and reputation in the community. Encourages involvement of officers in key influential community organizations.
- Leads by example and communicates with a focus on mission and purpose consistent with the Bank's core values and vision.Develops and maintains a high level of employee engagement and morale.
- Exhibits strong sales skills and personally leads the sales process, growing the bank, and actively engaging in the calling process for the development of business. Directs and participates in the development of centers of influence for direct and referral sales.
- Recommends and implements and/or assists with various projects and other duties related to the development and implementation of effective strategic plans, policies, and procedures.
- Works closely with the District Retail Manager in the area of retail branch management.
- Creates and maintains a sales and referral focus to include the delivery of all products and services to customers and ensures branch retail sales goals and objectives are achieved.
- Monitors market performance and provides input on pricing, target markets, and product mix.
- Works closely with the Mortgage Loan Officer to develop a high-quality and profitable consumer and residential real estate loan portfolio. Ensures market sales goals and objectives are achieved.
- Works closely with the business banking leader to develop a high-quality and profitable commercial loan portfolio and ensures market sales goals and objectives are achieved.
- Works closely with the marketing officer to define and lead the centralized marketing efforts of the Bank. This includes building an appropriate plan to meet market initiatives and within budget parameters, to include localized direct mail, local sponsorship of events, representation in community organizations, etc.
- Ensures effective day-to-day operation of the market including compliance with regulations, effective service, and profitable operations within budgetary guidelines.
- Implements and directs bank policies and procedures in accordance with applicable state, federal, and local laws and regulations.
- In conjunction with the Business Banking Leader and human resources department, ensures adequate staffing levels and that staff members are provided appropriate training, development, motivation and evaluation. Recommends compensation adjustments to staff consistent with the Bank's compensation plan.
- In conjunction with the information technology department, ensures implementation of IT and data management strategies and tools for use in product development, compliance, risk management, operating efficiencies, effective client relationships and marketing.
- Provides input and assists in the preparation of, and adherence to, annual budgets for activities conducted in the defined market area.
