Description

Under the direction of the Access/Crisis/Diversion Director performs peer related functions and tasks that assist Monroe Community Mental Health Authority in providing comprehensive services to consumers in the designated program. Services are provided in conjunction with case management and the Person-Centered Planning process in providing an individual plan of service to consumers. Peer delivered services consist of a variety of therapeutic and supportive tasks including consumer engagement and re-engagement, entitlements, services related to housing needs, skill building, assisting consumers to articulate their goals for recovery, model effective coping strategies based on their own recovery story/experience and provide emergency assistance and crisis intervention as needed on behalf of consumers. A Peer Support Specialist works alongside the crisis mobile response clinician as a liaison to consumer families, guardians, natural support systems, service providers and agencies. Peer Support Specialist may also provide activities in partnership with the consumers served for the specific purpose of achieving increased community inclusion and participation, independence and productivity. Peer Support Specialists must either be a current or past consumer of public mental health services.

The shift for this position is: Sundays 7:00pm-8:30am, Mondays 7:00pm-8:30am, and Saturdays 7:00pm-8:30am.

This Position is eligible for a $3,000 sign on Bonus and up to $1.50/hour shift premium

Qualifications

High School Diploma or GED.

State of Michigan Peer Support Certification.*

Must be a current or former consumer of community mental health services.

*State Certification is required for this position. Exceptions may be permitted where a staff development plan has been implemented to enroll, train and receive State certification within three months of hire.
