Rochester, United States OLEDWorks Full time

DIRECTOR, RESEARCH & DEVELOPMENT

(OLED Microdisplays and Direct View Displays)

Overview

Technology moves fast. We are looking for a director to join our team who will be focused on R&D for OLED Microdisplays and Direct View Displays, and responsible for OLED lighting formulation as well as technologies related to every component, process and tool required to manufacture the OLED Microdisplays and Direct View Displays devices from substrate through encapsulation, color filters, singulation, wire bonding and testing. Why is this role essential? First, our people are important to us, and having a great leader in place to challenge and inspire our technical team of engineers is key to their happiness and innovation as well as our collective success. We also pride ourselves in empowering our customers to make unique products with the world's most advanced, best performing, and highest quality multi-stack OLED technology. It is our mission. We must maintain our technological advantage by continuous development of advanced technologies to make OLED microdisplay products even more reliable, brighter, and higher performing at lower cost. You will help us do that.

What You'll Do Every Day

You will lead and manage a technical team of engineers in the execution of new lighting product development from conception to completion. You will work collaboratively with other Directors and leaders to strategize, set goals, and work towards the achievement of Company objectives.

Each day you will work closely with your technical team of engineers and collaborate with the Fabrication/Production team to research and improve existing microdisplay products. You will manage the development process and various projects to strict deadlines. Since you are responsible for new OLED formulations, you will look at new chemicals and ways to layer them to get better performance. You will manage and conduct experimental design on coaters in both of our locations to determine formulations to use, coordinate with research, and eventually transfer research to production. You will oversee the design of new OLED microdisplay products including working with backplane designers to enable our OLED formulations to achieve customer requirements. You will participate in yield improvement projects, conduct statistical analysis, write proposals, and move products from concept through development to a commercial product. You will present at conferences, interact with OLED customers, and ultimately act as a lead innovator for OLEDWorks.

Skills You Must Bring

You have microelectronics, chemical engineering or other appropriate technical aptitude and education, and you have 10 years of experience. You have previously worked in a fabrication or manufacturing environment and possess an understanding of OLED and device making as well as organic and inorganic materials knowledge. You have proven ability in managing a team in a research and development environment. You are proficient in using technical software such as JMP, and statistical tools. You pay attention to the details and are diligent and thorough. You have strong experimental and data analysis as well as project management skills. You are an established technology innovator. You take pride in your accurate and consistent work and like to contribute collaboratively as a team. You can adapt within a changing and growing company environment and seek out solutions with a positive outlook. This position is hybrid and offers remote work opportunity and you must be willing to travel if needed.
