The Director of Product Development will manage the lifecycle of Gateway's key digital products providing strategic and innovative leadership to design and deploy applications that maximize the digital reach of Gateway Church for the Glory of God. This role requires a high level of technical knowledge processes consisting of Software Development Lifecycle and Agile experience. SaaS product experience would be a plus. It is also important that this candidate have the ability to build relationships with and work with other department/ ministry teams in regard to their application technology needs and to facilitate the management of that work with internal and external software development teams. Exceptional communication, high-integrity and interpersonal skills are a must.

Principal Job Responsibilities:

  • Product Research: Conduct research and analysis to identify congregant and internal departmental and leadership needs that will be used to inform product development decisions in our Web, Mobile and internal and external facing IT applications.
  • Product Planning and Strategy: Develop product concepts and define the product vision and strategy.
    Conceptualization and Design: Collaborate with Directors in Technology department to translate product concepts into tangible designs and specifications and develop relational equity with key stakeholders within the organization.
  • Product Development: Act as the Product Owner and oversee the product requirements gathering, user flow and development process, including coordinating with the internal and external development teams and designers to ensure the product is developed according to requirement specifications. Conduct feasibility studies and make design decisions based on technical and financial considerations.
  • Testing and Quality Assurance: Conduct product testing and ensure adherence to quality standards and product requirements.
  • Product Development Management: Collaborate with stakeholders and cross-functional teams to ensure timely execution of product development milestones.
  • Documentation and Reporting: Maintain accurate documentation of product specifications, design changes, and development progress.
  • Launch and Post-launch Activities: Plan and execute product launch strategies. Collect and analyze user feedback post-launch and iterate on the product to enhance its features to address ongoing user needs.
  • Continuous Learning: Stay updated on industry trends, emerging technologies, and consumer preferences. Continuously evaluate the product's performance, gather user feedback and seek opportunities for innovation and improvement.
General Skills & Qualifications:
  • Education: A bachelor's degree in Information Technology, Computer Science or Information Systems is desirable.
  • Technical Skills: Proficiency in technical areas related to product development, such as, prototyping, modeling, etc. Familiarity with relevant software tools and technologies used in product development is advantageous.
  • Project Management: Product development involves managing projects, timelines, and resources. Skills in project management, including planning, organizing, and coordinating tasks would be a plus.
  • Communication Skills: Effective communication is crucial in product development. You should be able to collaborate with cross-functional teams, present ideas, and communicate technical information clearly and concisely to various stakeholders.
  • Analytical and Problem-Solving Skills: Product development often involves identifying and solving complex problems. Strong analytical skills and the ability to think critically are essential for evaluating data, conducting market research, making data-driven decisions, and finding innovative solutions.
  • Creativity and Innovation: Developing new products requires creativity and an innovative mindset. The ability to generate and evaluate ideas, think outside the box, and propose unique solutions.
  • Teamwork and Collaboration: Product development is typically a collaborative effort involving multiple teams and departments. The ability to work well in a team, adapt to different working styles, and contribute effectively to a collective goal is expected.
  • Adaptability and Flexibility: Product development projects can be dynamic, with changing requirements, priorities, and timelines. Being adaptable, flexible, and open to change is important to thrive in this environment. Continuous Learning: The product development field is constantly evolving, and staying updated with new technologies, methodologies, and industry trends is important. A willingness to learn, embrace new challenges, and improve skills over time is beneficial.
