The

Director of Budgets and Operations

is a member of the OEI senior leadership team, advising on strategic use of financial and human resources for the institution-wide Office of Equity and Inclusion. The Director is responsible for overseeing the financial and administrative aspects of the office, ensuring that OEI is compliant with all financial rules and regulations, and for the efficient and effective execution of day-to-day administrative functions.

Responsibilities Include

:

LEADERSHIP : Member of the Vice President’s Leadership team, guiding strategic planning, program budgets, and alignment of processes across OEI. Prepares and delivers comprehensive reports and presentations to senior leaders and the Board of Trustees.

FINANCE & BUDGET

: Oversees OEI accounting activities, ensuring budgets and spending align with strategic initiatives and University practices. Develops short-term and long-term financial strategies through forecasting, recommending actions to the Vice President, and identifying cost-saving opportunities. Collaborates on vendor procurement, conducts financial audits, and coordinates budget preparation.

OPERATIONS & PERSONNEL: Manages daily administrative functions, ensuring compliance with policies, overseeing personnel and leading equitable hiring and onboarding across the Office. Hires and supervises a team of administrative staff; conducts ongoing supervision and performance reviews, and manages personnel issues and follow-up actions. Serves as primary liaison with University HR, working closely with assigned HR Business Partner on personnel concerns, compliance with University guidelines and performing long-range succession planning. Discovers team needs, develops clear project roadmaps, and leads team in executing priorities for the Office.

Qualifications

: 8 years of relevant experience including leadership, financial stewardship and operations management. Experience working with large and complex budgets, including sponsored (grant) funds. Knowledge of trends and issues impacting diversity, equity, and inclusion, in particular those affecting higher education.
