The position requires excellent communication skills - both written and verbal, along with the ability to support the F&B experience at PSSC. This is a full-time position required to work at the property. This position requires non-traditional working hours which includes working nights and weekends and holidays.

SUMMARY:

We are seeking a dedicated and skilled Line Cook to join our culinary team at The Palm Springs Surf Club. As a Line Cook, you will play a crucial role in preparing high-quality dishes that meet our restaurant's standards and delight our guests. Your culinary expertise, attention to detail, and ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced kitchen environment will contribute to the overall success of our dining experience.

Responsibilities:
  • Prepare and cook a variety of dishes, ensuring that they are executed accurately, consistently, and with attention to presentation.
  • Follow recipes and instructions provided by the Head Chef to ensure consistency and quality in every dish.
  • Set up and organize the station prior to service, including gathering ingredients, utensils, and equipment.
  • Assist in receiving, inspecting, and storing ingredients to maintain freshness and quality standards.
  • Monitor food levels and communicate with the kitchen team to ensure timely preparation of menu items.
  • Coordinate with other kitchen staff to ensure a smooth flow of orders during busy service times.
  • Manage cooking times and temperatures to ensure that dishes are cooked to perfection.
  • Plate and garnish dishes according to established presentation guidelines.
  • Maintain a clean and organized workspace, including regular cleaning of equipment, utensils, and surfaces.
  • Adhere to food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper food handling and storage procedures.
  • Assist in food inventory management and communicate ingredient needs to the kitchen supervisor or Head Chef.
  • Collaborate with colleagues to identify opportunities for menu improvement and innovation.
  • Follow safety protocols and guidelines to prevent accidents or injuries in the kitchen.
  • Assist in special events, catering, and promotions as required.
Qualifications:
  • Previous experience as a Line Cook or in a similar role in a restaurant or food service establishment is preferred.
  • Culinary degree or relevant culinary training is a plus.
  • Knowledge of cooking techniques, food preparation methods, and kitchen equipment.
  • Attention to detail to ensure accurate execution of recipes and plating.
  • Ability to work efficiently in a high-pressure, fast-paced environment.
  • Strong communication skills to collaborate with kitchen staff and coordinate orders.
  • Physical stamina to stand for extended periods and perform repetitive tasks.
  • Ability to follow instructions and work independently as well as part of a team.
  • Basic understanding of food safety and sanitation regulations.
  • Creativity and willingness to contribute to menu suggestions and improvements.
