Description

Position Overview:

Caf team members perform several job duties to include taking orders; preparing menu items including soups, salads, sandwiches, and drinks while providing excellent customer service.

What we're looking for:

Someone with a friendly, enthusiastic attitude
Someone that loves to help and serve others (both customers and team members)
Someone ready to learn how to cook
We prepare real food by hand every day in our caf.

Requirements:

You have to be at least 16 years old to work at Hesston Bakery & Caf
You must be able to operate a computer and handle basic cash transactions
You need to have a positive attitude and provide great customer service
You must be responsible, accountable, dependable and flexible
Must enjoy working with the elderly and be able to understand their needs
Must be able to be organized, completing multiple task in a period of time
Must be able to speak and write English
Spend most of the day walking, standing, stooping, or bending and be able to lift up to 50 pounds

Essentials

Essential Job Functions:

Cooks food and prepares drinks according to menus and recipes
  • Understands and adheres to all recipes
  • Remains alert to all team members and helps team out when needed
  • Consults daily menus and prep sheets to determine which food will be cooked for the day
  • Uses all kitchen equipment appropriately
Organizes food preparation
  • Ensures that food and drinks are ready at the proper time and temperature
  • Organizes food and drinks to be served
Follows Food Code standards for preparing, handling, serving and storing food
  • Checks and records temperatures of food to ensure that it is served at correct temperatures
  • Cools food according to the Kansas Food Code
  • Prepares, cooks and stores food under appropriate temperatures and with safe food handling techniques
  • Cooks food and prepares drinks in a manner to conserve nutritive value, flavor, appearance and texture
Uses food and supplies appropriately to maintain budget
  • Understand and follows food portion controls
  • Avoids wasting food or supplies
  • Cleans in assigned areas
  • Keeps all kitchen equipment clean and in good working order
Cleans and sanitizes food preparation areas
  • Helps wash dishes and put them away
  • Completes cleaning schedules
  • Uses good sanitation practices
