Field System Support Technician

Description Summary/Objective The Field Systems Support Technician is responsible for assuring that store systems such as POS, PC's and peripherals are working efficiently and accurately at all times. Responsibilities Organize and prioritize daily schedule based on store needs. Take calls from Supervisors, Store Managers, and staff regarding problems with store level systems and determine scope of problem. Troubleshoot and solve problems by phone whenever possible. Visit stores as needed to troubleshoot and resolve store system failures. Repair and maintain equipment as needed. Position requires participating in an on-call rotation. On-call includes nights, weekends and holidays based on business needs. Respond to phone calls in a timely and professional way both during regular working hours and while on-call. Assure that follow up activities are communicated back to users (stores). Communicate repetitive and ongoing problems to the appropriate management personnel. Install upgrades, add ons, and new systems as they are developed and implemented. Test new software, hardware and systems prior to implementation. Perform preventative maintenance program for store systems. Maintain truck inventory to an economical level. Preferred Education and Experience High school diploma/GED required. Associates degree in Computer Technology or Information Technology is preferred. 2 years of troubleshooting and maintaining equipment in the field. Experience in retail environment is preferred. Understanding of relationship between hardware, software, and peripherals required. Mechanical/Electronic aptitude.
