Leads the overall effort to effectively troubleshoot intermittent, chronic or complex system problems and identify root cause and final resolution. Reviews analyses and designs to ensure that all requirements are met. Ensures successful integration between interfacing systems/subsystems and components. Documents design implementation. Mentors and provides guidance to less experienced engineers and leads multi-disciplinary teams. Serves as a subject matter expert. Oversees supplier technical teams in the development of multiple or complex products or systems. Reviews and approves supplier procurement specifications. Directs the technical source selection process. Approves supplier plans and schedules. Plans and directs design reviews or audits. Oversees supplier product hardware and software development. Resolves and directly influences the management of issues related to the supplier qualification testing program. Directs others in the review and disposition of contractual data. Leads the validation process to ensure that requirements are complete. Oversees creation of test plans, testing, analysis, documentation and reporting of results to validate and verify the design. Provides engineering design disposition on discrepancies by investigating problems. Recommends corrective action. Leads the validation of system design via product modeling and/or demonstration. Creates a verification cross-reference. Participates in the evaluation of test programs and ensures that tests are integrated within any Boeing testing. Leads periodic design reviews. Verifies that documentation is complete to achieve certification or compliance as required. Acts as primary interface for regulatory agency. Preferred skills: Authoring of system functional tests, working knowledge of wire diagrams and schematics, prior customer introduction experience. proficiency with Boeing software tools and application, understanding of aircraft certification. Typical Educ/Expr: Degree and typical experience in engineering classification: Bachelor's and 9 or more years' experience, Master's with 7 or more years' experience or PhD with 4 or more years' experience. Bachelor, Master or Doctorate of Science degree from an accredited course of study, in engineering, computer science, mathematics, physics or chemistry. ABET is the preferred, although not required, accreditation standard.
