In this role, you will be supporting the overall mission of the Unit of the US Attorney's Office (USAO) including investigation and prosecution of health care fraud matters and an aggressive stance against illegal opioid distribution through imposition of penalties and the use of available civil injunctive remedies, among others. A Civil Rights Investigator performs, but is not limited to the following duties:

  • Assisting with witness interviews, including drafting reports of interviews
  • Assisting with intake tasks, including witness interviews, conducting research ofpotential targets of our investigation, and basic legal and factual research
  • Assisting in the drafting of documents, including requests for information from thetargets of our investigations and other sources of information.
  • Reviewing and assisting with digesting documents produced by the targets of ourinvestigation.
    Researching the ownership of entities that are under investigation.
  • Locating witnesses and potential victims of discrimination and maintaining contacts
    during the investigation.
  • Assisting with the selection of targets for Americans with Disabilities Act ("ADA")compliance reviews.
  • Reviewing survey results for ADA compliance reviews.
  • Assisting with locating victims of unlawful discrimination.
  • Assisting with litigation tasks, including assistance with depositions and testifying at trial.
  • Assisting with site visits.
  • Assisting with compliance review for settlements, including reviewing remedialmeasures taken by the respondent, compliance reports and interviewing witnesses.
  • Supporting our community outreach and engagement efforts.
  • Other tasks that support the Civil Rights Enforcement Program.
  • Produces a variety of written documents and materials utilizing a wide range of officesoftware applications.
  • Ensures all documents contain the proper format, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, and grammar
  • Must have above average oral communication skills
Requirements:

A Civil Rights Investigator must meet the minimum qualifications:
  • Bachelor's degree required
  • 3+ years of previous investigative experience
  • Demonstrated experience in complex Civil investigations
  • Applicant shall have the ability to use MS Word, MS Excel, MSOutlook, MS Access, and other databases as well as Adobe Acrobat Professional.Experience with Relativity is a plus.
  • Ability to work in a team environment and maintain a professional disposition
  • Applicant shall work and interactprofessionally and effectively with all levels of staff.


This position requires U.S. Citizenship and a 7 (or 10) year minimum background investigation.
