Position Purpose:

This position provides specialized transportation, decontamination and disposal services to our clients for the safe handling and management of hazardous and non-hazardous waste. Responsibilities include classification, segregation, packaging, labeling, profiling, manifesting, loading/unloading, placarding, spill response, area decontamination, sampling, and transportation while adhering to state and federal environmental, health, and safety regulations.

Primary Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Classification, segregation, packaging, labeling, loading, unloading, manifesting, transportation, and placarding.
  • Sample waste streams and unknown containers according to prescribed policies and procedures.
  • Maintain a professional image to clients by answering inquiries and suggesting solutions to existing or potential problems.
  • Comply and enforce all compliance, health, safety, and procedures in accordance with VES-TS policies.
  • Become familiar with, and able to research, U. S. Department of Transportation (DOT), Environmental Protection Agency (EPA) and relatable regulations required in submitting paper work to expedite disposal of hazardous waste and non-hazardous materials.
  • Perform continuous inspections of vehicle and/or trailer prior to driving to ensure safety and integrity of equipment.
  • Ensure that DOT requirements such as vehicle weight limits, driver log books, vehicle inspection records, transportation permits, special permits, insurance cards, registration, IFTA fuel stickers, or other paperwork is up-to-date and valid.
  • Perform small remedial activities such as decontamination work that involves the use of various equipment, tool and protection equipment.
  • Ability to obtain site specific training such as MSHA, confined space training, or others depending on customer needs.
  • Perform various facility inspections that include safety and regulatory concerns for Veolia as well as our customers.
  • Utilize various applications to create paperwork, record data, and generate reports.
  • Able to travel to service customers that are not in an immediate proximity to the local office
  • Perform data entry with strong attention to detail
  • Perform any other relatable task as neededed.
Qualifications

Education/Experience/Background:

  • High School diploma or General Educational Development (GED) required.
  • Bachelor's degree in Chemistry or related science discipline preferred.

Knowledge/Skills/Abilities:

  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills with a strong customer service orientation
  • Time management: the ability to organize and manage multiple deadlines and simultaneous tasks
  • Basic computer proficiency in Google and Microsoft Suite applications
  • Ability to perform light physical work for extended periods.

Required Certification/Licenses/Training:

  • 40-hour HAZWOPER Certification.
  • Valid Drivers License.
  • Ability to obtain a Class A or B Commercial Drivers License (CDL) with Hazardous (H) endorsement.
