Job Overview:

The Safety Culture Specialist at GBC Food Services is key to supporting store operations and upholding safety standards. This role involves a combination of technical skills and interpersonal abilities to ensure all store locations have the correct access, receive proper training, and are supported in quality and safety systems. A proactive problem-solving approach, strong communication skills, and the ability to work well with cross-functional teams are essential for success. The Safety Culture Specialist plays a vital role in maintaining safety and quality throughout all GBC Food Services locations.

Supervisory Responsibilities:
  • None
Key Responsibilities:
  • Set Up Location Credentials: Ensure each store has the correct credentials and access rights.
  • Verify Store-Level Access: Confirm that all locations have the appropriate access permissions.
  • Conduct Field Training for New Locations: Train new sites on processes and protocols.
  • Provide Support During System Updates/Outages: Serve as the liaison between the Safety Culture team, IT, and stores to resolve connectivity issues and ensure systems are functioning.
  • Create and Modify Templates: Develop new templates and adjust existing ones as needed, with approval from senior Quality Assurance staff.
  • Generate and Maintain Reports: Use Power BI or similar software to create reports that identify underperforming stores or those with slow implementation rates. Communicate findings to Regional Managers and request corrective actions. Provide periodic updates to senior leadership.
  • Provide Backup Label Printing: Assist with label printing during system downtime.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Thorough understanding of food safety regulations and standards (e.g., FDA, HACCP, SQF).
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.

  • Ability to work independently and make well-informed decisions.

Education and Experience:
  • Associate degree in related field and Food Science, or 2 years' experience in data analysis, program implementation, Quality Assurance monitoring, IT (information Technology), or Food Safety.
  • HACCP certification preferred but not required.
  • ServSafe Certification preferred but not required.
  • PCQI Certification preferred but not required.
Physical Requirements:
  • The role may require visits to various facilities, including production and warehouse areas.
  • Some physical activity may be required, such as standing, walking, or lifting.
  • Occasional travel may be necessary for training or safety audits.
Work Environment:
  • The position is primarily office-based with occasional travel required for industry events, regulatory meetings, and visits to production sites.
