The AE owns individual electrical projects from start to finish and maintains budget and schedule in a project management capacity. Utilizes his/her skills and experience to provide electrical engineering design, CAD drawing packages, automation (PLC’s and HMI’s), operating manuals, and performance verification. Provides commissioning and aftermarket support for customer and field technicians including travel. Duties of Position: Manages

Provides electrical engineering design, adhering to best practices, required codes, and customer specifications; Uses CAD software to develop drawing packages; Programs PLC, HMI, and connectivity equipment; Supports purchasing of electrical components; Creates functional descriptions and operating manuals as required. Proves functional performance by performing and documenting hardware tests. Supports Customer and Field Technicians by troubleshooting site issues with automation packages, including travel and direct communication with customer and suppliers as needed. Certification/Registration: 4-Year Electrical Engineering Degree required Type and Length of Experience: Automation engineering design and support experience, 2 years preferred Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Attributes Desired in Candidate: Strong working knowledge of Microsoft Office and Windows Strong in electrical troubleshooting Excellent communication (verbal & written) and organizational skills Working knowledge of AutoCAD Electrical Working knowledge of Allen Bradley & Siemens PLC and HMI software Experience with National Electric Code (NEC) and hazardous area installations Networking capabilities Ability to read and understand technical drawings and specifications Strong desire to provide quality service with a team approach to achieve customer satisfaction Must be self-starter and driven to succeed Ability to prioritize multiple tasks in fast paced environment PHYSICAL & ENVIRONMENTAL FACTORS Requires lifting, bending, and climbing to perform testing on equipment in factory and in field. May require exposure to liquid desiccant chemicals (lithium chloride, glycol), cold and hot working climates (freezer or boiler rooms, indoor/outdoor installs), and food production and slaughtering areas. Willingness and ability to travel in all capacities (ground, air, etc). Automation engineer is expected to be at a customer site up to 30% of the time. Trips entail commissioning, start-up, training, troubleshooting, and other tasks. Up to 30% travel required, passport and valid driver’s license required.
