WHAT YOU'LL DO:

Support the Corporate Controller in carrying out the responsibilities for the efficient, timely and accurate filing of Sales and Use Tax returns. Responsibilities include but are not limited to, maintaining sales tax information in our ERP software, maintain appropriate customer tax exemption documentation, process tax adjustments, track nexus thresholds/ register with states as needed and approve accurate and timely returns.

Essential Functions:
  • Understand sales and use tax regulations.
  • Maintaining appropriate customer documentation for exemptions
  • Supervise/prepare sales tax adjustments.
  • Compile information needed for filing tax returns.
  • Approve accurate sales and use tax returns.
  • Reconcile tax returns to the appropriate general ledger accounts.
  • Prepare month-end reports for management.
  • Stay current on changes in the sales and use tax laws.
  • Work closely with all levels of the organization.
  • Work with outside auditors and legal consultants to make sure we are in compliance and also provide recommendations.
  • Reporting - create manage & run reports as needed.
  • Provide training to new and existing staff as needed.
  • Assist in the development and implementation of new policies and procedures to enhance the workflow of the company and improve internal control.
  • Track nexus thresholds with states and registering with the states as needed.
  • Complete sales tax exemption certificates for vendors.
WHAT WE'LL NEED FROM YOU:
  • Accounting degree
  • 5-7 years' experience in sales tax reporting
  • Highly skilled in the use of Excel spreadsheets
  • Excellent verbal and written skills
  • Ability to multi-task, work under pressure and meet required deadlines.
