Simmons is an equal opportunity employer and is committed to continuing to develop a more diverse faculty, staff, student body, and curriculum.JOB SUMMARYReporting to the Vice President, University Real Estate Development and Facilities Management, the Assistant Vice President plays a key role in the execution and oversight of the strategic management of the University physical plant, drives significant revenue production from auxiliary services (leases, parking, dining, vending), leads construction management, and serves as the primary liaison with external vendors. This includes significant budget planning and strategic budget management. Serve as the main strategic partner for Vice President on all matters related to the real estate, physical plant, and revenue production for the division.ESSENTIAL JOB FUNCTIONSReasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform these essential functionsReal Estate and Facilities:Develop, monitor, update $XXXM Operating Budget for the Facilities and Auxiliary Services Division, and $XXM Capital Budget;Make recommendations related to all capital and maintenance projects on campus; including preventative maintenance and emergency repairs to all portions of the campus physical plant;Provide updates to the Facilities Committee of the Board of Trustees in partnership with the Vice President;Work with University administration to continuously improve the service levels and fulfill responsibilities in support of the Strategic Plan and other initiatives, including service level agreements outlined in the work order system;Lead the facilities sub-committee of the Living and Learning Center (LLC) Steering Committee to successfully transition from the current residence campus into the new 400,000 square-foot LLC in Fall of 2026;Participate in all construction planning meetings for the LLC and all other major projects on campus. Develops training plans and budgets for the Facilities maintenance technicians with the goal of enhancing their skills and improving operations;Assist with the negotiation of Union Contracts and the management of a 3-year training plan (as required by the Union contract) for the Facilities team to ensure their readiness to operate and maintain the new LLC building in the future state;Serve as the main point of contact for all external service providers; dining, parking, vending, copy/mail center, bookstore, buildings & grounds/facilities management. This includes contract oversight and negotiations, and budget management for these functions;Responsible for the generation of $XXX in auxiliary revenue annually through the negotiation of parking leases, Direct Textbook program with the bookstore, and leases for office space;Monitor sustainability measures through the Building Emissions Reduction and Disclosure (BERDO) program with the City of Boston;Manage the contract with the University contractor on environmental health and safety to review and enhance staff training, update policies and increase safety and compliance as required by the City of Boston and the Commonwealth of Massachusetts;Auxiliary Services and Contracts:Serve as the main point of contact for all external service providers; dining, parking, vending, copy/mail center, bookstore, buildings & grounds/facilities management.
