The OR Manager is a registered professional nurse who plans, directs, and evaluates the process and related activities to ensure that all facets of the plan of care are implemented via appropriate delegations. Based on his/her assessment, the OR Manager plans a standard of care and safe practices and provides collaboration with Service Line Administrator to establish effective leadership within the perioperative setting. Collaborates with the Service Line Administrator to monitor the operating budget using appropriate monitoring tools. Provides input for the budgeting process to include the operating and capital budgets.

Responsibilities:
  • Acts as a consultant and resource person for service specialty charge staff, staff, physicians and medical center support services.
  • Assigns and monitors all staff in a manner which assures meeting patient needs, effective staff and facility resource utilization in a cost effective and efficient manner.
  • Evaluates staff performance.
  • Fosters a working climate which promotes teamwork, professionalism and customer satisfaction.
  • Participates in planning and promoting unit goals which are consistent with the philosophy of Hillcrest Medical Center.
  • Participates in the preparation of the unit budgets by providing input and making recommendations.
  • Plans and directs daily activities.
  • Promotes staff development and encourages staff academic pursuits.
  • Ensures compliance with all regulatory and accrediation standards as well as Ardent Health policies.
  • Working knowledge and documented application of the nursing process in daily work.
  • Works with Pre-Op, PACU, SPD, Anesthesia staff and others as needed for most effective room and resource utilization.


Qualifications:

Experience

  • 3 to 5 years of Operating Room Experience required.

Education/Certification

  • 4-year bachelor's degree.
  • Oklahoma licensure as a Registered Nurse.
  • BLS and ACLS certification.
  • CNOR certification or CSSM certification.
  • AORN member.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities

  • Communicates effectively and demonstrates ability to assess and interpret data about the patients status to identify each patient's age specific needs and provide the care needed by pediatric, adolescent, young adult, middle-aged, and geriatric patient groups.
  • Demonstrates knowledge of cultural diversity, the ability to provide care and service, and exhibit the communication skills necessary to interact with the customer/patient.
  • Has met performance expectations without any formal discipline.
  • Direct oversight of all Surgery operations.
  • Performs direct supervision of assigned direct reports and activities.
  • Monitor and assume responsibility for patient flow and staff communication with patients.
  • Ensure compliance with all regulatory and accreditation standards, financial success of the organization.
