JobSummary:
The Accountant will prepare financial reports to trackthe organization's assets, liabilities, profit and loss, tax liabilities, andother related financial activities.

SupervisoryResponsibilities: None

Duties/Responsibilities:

  • Performs general cost accounting andother related duties in the accounting department.
  • Prepares periodic (monthly) balancesheets, income statements, and profit and loss statements.
  • Maintains the general ledger.
  • Codes invoices, sets up new accounts,reconciles accounts, and closes the monthly books.
  • Reconciles bank accounts at least monthly,verifies deposits, and addresses inquiries from banks.
  • Reconciles customer accounts andmanages accounts receivable collections.
  • Verifies payment of invoicesassociated with accounts payable and ensures payments are charged to theappropriate accounts.
  • Provides outside auditors withassistance; gathers necessary account information and documents to performannual audit.
  • Files required tax forms with federal,state, and local government agencies.
  • As appropriate, coordinates withsoftware vendor to maintain accounting software system; recommends updates toenhance the accounting software.
  • Performs other related duties asassigned.
Required Skills/Abilities:
  • Extensive knowledge of generalfinancial accounting and cost accounting.
  • Understanding of and ability to adhereto generally accepted accounting principles (GAAP)
  • Highly proficient with accountingsoftware.
  • Detail and deadline orientated.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solvingskills.
  • Excellent organizational skills andattention to detail.
  • Excellent written and verbalcommunication skills.
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office Suiteor similar software.
Education and Experience:
  • Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance,or related discipline required.
  • Three to five years of accounting experience required.
Physical Requirements:
  • Prolonged periods sitting at a desk and working on a computer.
  • Must be able to lift up to 15 pounds at times.
