Manufacturing Team Lead

Apply your technical knowledge and leadership skills to assist with the flow of production in a manufacturing work cell at our Hopkinton, MA facility. Support the Production Manager in a variety of tasks including scheduling personnel and equipment as required.

Responsibilities for the position include:

Understand, observe, and enforce all safety practices. Ensure cleanliness of workstations maintaining a clean room environment striving to eliminate FOD. (Foreign Object Debris) Assist in conducting on-the-job safety training for the Team.

Read, follow, and assist in training and direction of operators on work instructions and technical procedures.

Ensure jobs are run with correct materials according to job routers.

Maintain frequent coordination with APU Manager to freely exchange ideas and review shift activities.

Ensure continuity of production from shift to shift by communicating person daily with shift assistants including discussion of processing, maintenance, or quality problems occurring during the preceding shift.

Track Key Metrics and report at Gemba to ensure daily schedule conformance. Follow-up on any open action items as required.

Follow detailed work instruction procedures and material specifications while performing a variety of manufacturing production tasks on multiple workstations and equipment.

Complete preventive or routine maintenance of production equipment such as lubrication and mechanical running adjustments.

Report any inconsistencies and request support from other specialists when serious problems occur. Receive technical guidance from the supervisor or process technician.

Verify setups and adjustments to process equipment, holding tolerances to work instruction specifications per documented procedures as required. May set up, troubleshoot, and repair routine equipment failures and prepare proper work orders for tasks requiring technician, tooling, mold setter, or maintenance support. Recognize and correct routine process problems (adjust, tune, and calibrate instrumentation for optimal performance).

Ensure jobs are kitted properly, performing required computer transactions. Move materials as needed.

Operate/relieve operators on multiple workstations in accordance with detailed work instructions.

Ensure all quality and productivity standards are met on the assigned workstation

Publish routers and procedures on assigned workstations. Review and update routers & bills of materials (BOM) as needed.

Monitor process control of the compound, press operations, and metal prep operations and ensure process data is accurately entered into the data collection sheet daily.

Recognize and correct routine process problems. Publish routers and procedures on assigned workstations

Maintain, review, complete, and scan production records.

APU Manager will review work for general compliance with accepted practices.

Extend most of the effort and time on the designated equipment, but complete other duties as assigned

Requirements:

Exhibit a high degree of responsibility with an emphasis on safety.

Position requires a High School Diploma or GED.

5+ years of progressive experience in manufacturing.

Possess the ability to follow directions from APU manager and other authorities including technicians in a professional manner

Strong interpersonal, oral, and written communication skills and advanced math skills are required to communicate, lead, and train all team members. Ability to communicate effectively to all levels of the organization.

Ability to comprehend and train documents such as work instructions, safety rules, maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals written in English.

Demonstrate flexibility to participate in various activities and tasks based on the needs of the department.

Ability to perform repetitive work, change tasks frequently, and maintain attention to detail and speed without loss to production.

Able to read and perform work in compliance with engineering drawings/ blueprints, routings, and work instructions.

Ability to detect and correct process problems on assigned workstations.

Effectively work as a team member.

Possess computer skills to accurately record production data. Use XA and Shop Floor + as required to log on, and off jobs. Assist team members with the same.

Work with minimal supervision, while maintaining proper safety, quality, and inspection standards.
